Trek Marlin has released various advanced models of their cross-country collection. Each release comes with a new feature incorporated to enhance functionality. And make general bike riding a fun experience. We, therefore, seek to unravel the differences in the 2022 Trek Marlin 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The latest version is the Trek Marlin 8, which we believe is a more advanced cross-country bike than the rest. Read below as we provide supporting evidence for the above assumptions.

Brakes- The Trek Marlin 4 comes equipped with a standard but functional brake, the Tektro MD M280 mechanical disc while the Marlin 5 and 6 have incorporated the Tektro HD M275 hydraulic disc, which are considered basic but nonetheless function. The Trek Marlin 7 and 8 have the Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc, a low-priced braking system that has obliterated the groupset integration. The Shimano MT200 brake is therefore considered the best as it runs without much noise.
Suspension fork- Marlin 4 comes equipped with the SR Suntour SCE fork that uses the coil springs for dampening. The Marlin 5 and 6 on the other hand, feature the SR Suntour XCT known to have a stiffer coil but which can be locked out to enable faster pedaling. The Marlin 7 features the RockShox Judy fork made complete with a turnkey lockout which enhances stability while giving longer service. The Marlin 8 uniquely features the rebound adjusters, which facilitates adjustment of the dampening to suit the trail.
The Trek Marlin 8 is the better cross country bike because it has been equipped with upgraded components thus offering good performance when taken off the road on both ascents and descents.
The Trek Marlin 4 is equipped with a Bontrager Arvada Saddle.
