The Trek Marlin comes equipped with 29” wheels in most of its bike sizes, however, if you invest in the small-sized bikes, you will choose between the 27.5” or 29” wheels. The extra small frame of the Trek Marlin only uses the 27.5” wheels, you will also find a special category of the XXS bikes from Trek that uses the 26” wheels. Notable is that Rockhopper does not have this category, The Specialized Rockhopper also comes with the XXL size best used by cyclists who are 6’3” or 6’6” feet tall.
The Marlin 8 features up to 80mm of travel for the xs and the XXS frames. Whereas the Rockhopper expert features 90mm of travel for the small size and 80mm of travel for the extra small size. A feature that makes cycling comfortable for the shorter cyclists.
The Trek Marlin 8 has been equipped with the suspension lockout configured to ensure that the fork remains active while increasing pedaling efficiency. The incorporated Bontrager stem technology allows cyclists to clip their gear directly to the stem, for enhanced aesthetics and ease of use.

The Specialized Rockhopper Expert features the premium A1 aluminum frame, you will also find butted aluminum tubes on the bike that ensure the weight is low and the strength of the bike high. The bike also features increased standover clearance and with a slick internal cable routing.
The Specialized Rock Hopper Expert is the better option because it has a more modern geometry.
