How To Screenshot On Lenovo

Taking a screenshot of a beautiful photo on the web or some vital information while using a smartphone was never a problem for me.

But surprisingly, when it came to my Lenovo laptops, I got utterly confused! So every time, jotting down the information on a notepad seemed better.

But a few months ago, I had some essential online work related to getting a smart electric meter installed at home, which required me to fill up quite a few forms online. And I understood that jotting down all the vital details would be too tedious.

That’s why I decided to learn how to take a screenshot from my daughter to end this inconvenience once and for all. Being a pro at handling computers, she was adept at such work, so she explained it all to me one day.

And soon, I had managed to take all the screenshots I needed throughout the procedure and pulled off the work within just two days!

Hi! I’m Stacy, and today I’ll be telling you all about how to screenshot on Lenovo computers. So, without further ado, let’s get straight to the deets!

Taking A Screenshot On A Lenovo Computer

First of all, you need to consider the Windows version installed on your computer as the procedure will differ slightly based on that. That’s why I’ve included three methods in my guide to ensure that you can find a suitable option according to the operating system you use. So, let’s have a brief look at each of them.

A. For Computers Running On Windows 10

Method 1:

Begin by holding down the Windows key and then pressing the Print Screen (PrtSc) key. At this moment, the computer screen will turn dim, indicating that the device is saving the image of the screen.

The first time I tried this procedure, the dimming of the screen made me wonder if there was something wrong. But my daughter assured me that it was actually a part of the procedure and indicated I had done it the right way.

Now, head over to the folder called “Screenshots” in your files, and you’ll find the image saved there.

Method 2:

Another quick method you can adopt if you have Windows 10 is to press the W key while holding down the Windows key. This will open up a sidebar on the right side of the screen, and from there, you’ll have to select the “ScreenSketch” option from that menu.

At this point, you can make any edits to the image and then you will have to click on the save icon. Ensure that you don’t confuse the save icon with the others, as all of them are tiny and look similar.

I had once made this mistake, only to find that the image had not been saved on the screenshots folder, and I had to start from scratch again! So, be very careful with this step.

On a side note, this method is specifically useful for those who wish to markup or highlight certain portions of the screenshot for future use.

Method 3:

Now, the above methods weren’t so useful when I took some custom screenshots to capture the essential portion in an entire window. That’s when my daughter suggested an alternative method, which is as follows:

Step 1:

Go to the start menu and select the “All Programs” option followed by “Accessories.” Now, select the “Snipping tool” from the options that come up. Like one of the earlier methods, the screen will turn dim at this point and remain so until a window is selected.

Step 2:

Following this, you’ll need to select the window by moving the mouse pointer to it and then left-click on the window. A red border will then appear around the selected portion.

Step 3:

Finally, the snipping tool will load the image, and you'll have to save the image using the “File” and “Save” options.

B. For Computers That Don’t Run On Windows 10

This procedure might seem a little more lengthy than the previous ones, but it has a few similarities with them and isn’t very complicated.

Step 1:

Firstly, you’ll have to press the print screen (PrtSc) key on the keyboard, which will ensure the image of the screen is copied to the clipboard.

Step 2:

Then open paint or any other graphic editing application, and utilize the paste function to paste the image on the new document.

Step 3:

Follow this by using the tools provided in the application to edit the image as per your needs. Note that you must know the basics of editing on the said application

As for me, one of my laptops had the Paint 3D app that worked almost the same way as Paint, so this wasn’t much of a problem. After you’re done editing, click on the “File” option on the top left, followed by “Save” to save it in the desired location.

Final Words

From now on, you’ll surely find it easy to take a screenshot on a Lenovo computer. So, noting down some important information you come across online will be a matter of seconds now.

While using any of these methods, just make sure you don’t click on any particular option too many times, even if it doesn’t show the results immediately. That’s because it might freeze the system.

For instance, don’t click on the save icon too many times if you find the save window taking slightly more time to open up. Generally, it doesn’t take longer than a minute.

That’ll be all for today. I’ll come up with more interesting blogs soon, so watch out for this space.

Till then, take care!
