Air compressors are pretty versatile. Whether it is an industrial job or a simple household chore, a good air compressor can cover it all.
However, you need to know how to use the regulator properly while using an air compressor. Spoiler alert: you might need some extra knowledge and time to do that.
So, I’ll talk about all of this in today’s article. Let’s dig in!
Steps To Adjust Air Compressor Pressure
When I first started using an air compressor, I didn’t know much about adjusting the pressure regulator. So, I often ended up turning the regulator to its highest limit, and that pretty quickly left me with a broken air compressor.
After facing a few bumps on the road, I figured out the trick to operate the regulator. And there are some simple steps that you can follow.
Step 1: Turn On The Equipment
First thing’s first, connect your air compressor to the power source and switch it on. Ensure that the chord is well-connected to the power source while switching on the equipment.
Step 2: Fill It Up
Once the air compressor is switched on, wait for compressed air to fill up the tank completely. The higher the level of compressed air, the more time it will take to fill up the tank. Usually, it takes only five minutes to fill 125 to 135 PSI of compressed air.
Step 3: Find A Compatible Air Tool
While adjusting the PSI compatibility on your air compressor, it is essential to find an air tool that is compatible with the PSI capacity of your compressor. If you can’t match the PSI compatibility of your air tool and the air compressor, it might affect the machine.
Step 4: Connect The Air Tool And Hose
After making sure that the air tool is compatible with the PSI level of the air compressor, it’s time to connect the air tool with the air hose. Read the instruction manual carefully before doing it, following which locate the port to connect the air tool and air hose.
Step 5: Adjust Your Regulator
Finally, you can adjust the regulator of your air compressor. Find the knob that’s usually present on the right of the regulator, as this knob comes with a locking mechanism. You have to pull and unlock it to turn the knob.
If you want to increase the pressure, turn the knob clockwise, but if you want to decrease the pressure, turn it anti-clockwise. Now, push the knob back and lock it once you’ve adjusted the air compressor pressure.
Final Words
After going through my article, I hope you better understand how to adjust pressure regulator on air compressor properly.Â
Just follow the simple steps that I’ve mentioned above, and you should be fine. I’ll suggest you be careful if this is your first time handling a pressure regulator.Â
On that note, I’ll sign off. Until next time!Â
