How To Keep Brush From Growing Back

While some shrubs add to the aesthetic appeal of the lawn, most are just eyesores and hence best removed at the earliest.

That’s why all homeowners need to learn how to keep brush from growing back to maintain the beauty of their yards. So, if you want to know how it’s done, read the article to the end.

Why Should Brush Be Cleared?

Most homeowners want to get rid of yard brushes because they want access to the areas these growths overtake. Furthermore, brushes become a living space for various rodents and insects such as wood ticks and mosquitos, which affects the growth of other plants in the yard.

So, when you clear brush, you get more access to the areas of the property that couldn’t be used before and ensure a healthy yard.

How To Keep Brush From Growing Back?

Here are a few easy steps to prevent yard brushes from growing back.

1. Spray Herbicide

First things first, you need to use a herbicide to kill the brush.

To make such a product at home, first, you’ll need to mix salt and dish detergent with white vinegar. Then put these three ingredients into a spray bottle and apply them onto the brush. It’s important to note that herbicides will most likely kill the other plants, so make sure you spray it only on the brush you want to get rid of.

2. Cut It

After spraying, allow the solution to sit for at least three days, and after that cut the brush down. I strongly recommend using the appropriate gardening shears to ensure you cut it down as close to its base as possible.

Once you finish cutting the brush down, you will probably be left with the stump. And that’s fine, as in the next step I’ll provide you with a solution to deal with it.

3. Drill Into The Stump

After cutting down the brush, you will be able to access the stump, which you’ll probably want to get rid of to prevent the brush from growing back. For this, you’ll have to drill a few holes on the stump, each about 1 inch deep.

Then, apply the herbicide into the drilled holes and make sure that it reaches deep down to allow it to kill the stump completely.

If this process fails, you’ll have to dig up the brush by its stump and roots. As long as you get rid of the roots, the brush will not grow back.

Final Thoughts

That brings me to the end of my guide.

Hopefully, it has helped you gain some valuable insights into the process of dealing with a stubborn brush and preventing it from growing back. So, what are you waiting for? Prepare the herbicide and make that brush go away.

That’s all for today, see you soon!
