Backsplashes are the most practical solution to keep your kitchen walls safe from cooking splatters.

Not only that, but they also add a little flair and classic touch to your space. Now, if you’re planning to revamp the kitchen, then you must be wondering how long does it take to install a backsplash?

Today, I’ll discuss the time frame and other details that you must know about backsplash installation. So, dive in!

How Long Does It Take To Install A Backsplash

Ideally, backsplashes can be installed in two to four days; however, the exact time depends on the workforce, project size, type, and other factors. And if you go for professional installation, it may take about four days to install a backsplash.

Steps To Determine The Time Frame Of Installing A Backsplash

If you go for subway tiles or those that have a flat surface, then you’ll be able to install it in a jiffy. However, if you’ve chosen oddly shaped or tiny tiles, know that installing those pieces will be time-consuming.

Here’s how you can determine the time it will take to install a backsplash in your kitchen:

1. Preparing The Surface

First off, prep the surface to repair the damage caused by removing old tiles. Ideally, it will take two to three days to fix the damaged wall.

2. Create A Pencil Grid On The Wall

Basically, this depends upon the materials and the area where you intend to lay the tiles. More or less, it will take up to five to ten minutes to create a pencil grid.

3. Gathering Materials

What happens when materials aren’t gathered before working? You’ll have to make multiple trips here and there, and that would cost a lot of time. Thus, the wise thing to do is gather materials beforehand and avoid wasting time while installing backsplashes.

4. Drying Time Of Mortar

After the tiles are installed, you’ll have to wait for the mortar to dry. More often than not, mortars take up to 24 hours to dry, so you’ll have to wait for a whole day to move further.

5. Filling Grout And Cleaning The Tiles

Once the mortar dries, fill grout and clean the tiles, which will take about 30 minutes to an hour.

6. Sealing The Grout

Though it depends largely on the surface area, it takes one to three hours to seal the grout. Also, if you go for small, penny-round tiles, then the sealing process will require a couple of extra hours.

Final Words

So, finally, it’s time to wrap up today's guide.

Surprisingly, installing a backsplash is a simple project, and its completion depends upon many factors. Your kitchen remodeling project will take no more than four to five days, and the new backsplash will add oodles of charm to your space.

And that’s it for today! Till we meet again!
