Remodeling a bathroom is a daunting task.

All because of its components that are tricky to disassemble, one of which is the vanity. So, not sure how to remove a bathroom vanity from the wall? Do read my guide on the matter to gain some clarity.

Dive in for details!

How To Remove A Bathroom Vanity From The Wall

Before you start removing the bathroom vanity, know that it might have been installed before other fittings or built on that wall itself. This makes removing the cabinet in one piece quite challenging or almost impossible. In such instances, you’ll have to cut it into pieces using a demolition blade and remove it.

But if you can’t handle such heavy equipment, it’s best to call a professional. And if you can, detach the countertop and sink from the cabinet before you start piecing it. However, for vanities installed after the fixtures, these are the steps you can follow to remove them:

1. Gather The Material

You will need an adjustable wrench, screw gun, putty knife, utility knife, flat pry bar, channel-lock pliers, woodblock, bucket, and a rag. Once you have all these tools in place, you may begin with the removal.

2. Switch Off The Water Supply And Detach The Tubes

We suggest removing the vanity doors right from their hinges to better access the plumbing. Now, turn off the faucet water supply using the shut-off valve by rotating it clockwise. If that isn’t possible for any reason, you can also turn off the main water supply of the house. Once that’s done, open the tap to drain the remaining water and release the pressure.

Moving on, place a bucket below the valves and remove the water supply tubes by loosening the hose connector using an adjustable wrench.

3. Remove The Mirror And Drain Trap

To eliminate the risk of breaking the mirror, you can take it off before removing the vanity, especially if it sits on the backsplash or countertop.

Next, remove the p-trap assembly by loosening the two slip nuts (one at the tailpiece and another towards the wall). You can do it either by hand or using the channel lock pliers. When the nuts are free, slide them away and remove the assembly.

4. Slice The Caulk Joints

Cut through the caulk where the vanity top or cabinet is attached to the wall using a utility knife. Be very careful during this step and handle the knife well.

5. Remove The Vanity

Finally, remove the countertop leaving the faucet in place. Unscrew the brackets, remove the trims or glue and take off the whole cabinet.

Final Words

And that’s how you remove a bathroom vanity from the wall!

On that note, I’ll wrap up for the day, hoping that you found my guide helpful. But if you’re still not sure how to go about it? Consider hiring a professional in that case.

Until next time, take care!
