Those who care about the genesis of a company will be pleased to learn that Toro is an American brand. Ever since its inception, the company has strived to achieve one thing - helping its customers do more with less.
Keeping this motto in mind, Toro has developed some of the most efficient lawn care products to be sold globally. However, their range of products runs deeper than just turf maintenance.

Toro's history is extensive and fascinating, and I will try my best to acquaint you with it in a few short paragraphs. The journey of Toro began in 1914 when it was established under the name of "Toro Motor Company." Initially, Toro manufactured tractor engines for a company known as The Bull Tractor Company.
It took three decades for the company to introduce a new product into the market - push mowers. In 1948, Toro finally hit the jackpot when it acquired Whirlwind Corp. Under this brand name, Toro began manufacturing and selling push mowers, slowly capturing the market.
It wasn't until 1970 that the President and Chairman of Toro, Al Conover and David Lilly, respectively, decided to transform the fate of the company for good. During this transformative year, Toro began developing a full line of lawn and garden products.
The company decided to enter the market with a bang, developing a two-stage snow thrower. Unfortunately, those who previously attempted the same suffered horrendous results, so Toro had to be careful with its next move.
Conover and Lilly were not the kind of individuals to give up easily. They hired new engineers who would help the company develop an entirely new line of snow throwers.
Fortunately, their endeavor paid off, as Toro soon developed a 3-unit line which went on to receive top rankings with Consumer Reports.
The very same engineers went on to develop some of the most innovative products that would bring Toro to fame. Its snow thrower was a huge success and eventually took over the entire market. This encouraged the people at Toro to create more in-house products that would go on to take over the global markets.
Toro's hiring team did an excellent job during their hiring process, as they were able to quickly acquire some of the most creative, talented, and brilliant minds into the company. With an immense amount of hard work, dedication, and creative energy, the company developed some of the most authentic and unique concept products in the market.
One of the first innovative Toro products to enter the market was the "kicker" based mulching mower system. The company sat back and analyzed the market response but continued developing even more innovative and brilliant products.
The riding mower bagging system was another popular concept product that took over the market not much later. These, along with several other brilliant innovations, soon made Toro a leading manufacturer in lawn care products.
The company acquired several brand names over the years, such as American Motors Corporation (AMC)’s very own Wheel Horse Products Division in 1986. Soon after, it purchased Lawn-Boy, from Outboard Marine Corporation in 1989.
It wasn't until (then) CEO Kendrick Melrose entered the company that it completely changed its operating strategy. It began acquiring several companies that would help them focus on professional maintenance markets such as sports fields, commercial properties, golf courses, etc.
What began as a small venture of supplying tractor engines soon branched out into something diverse. Toro is known for its innovation and concept products and soon began taking over several parts of the market at once with its superior innovations.
Toro developed basic products like Riding Mowers, Snow Throwers, Sprinklers, Lawn Mowers, and more for homeowners. However, it didn't end there. Toro also has a wide range of golf products, such as Greens Mowers, Rough Mowers, Fraise Mowers, Fairway Mowers, and much more.
Although I have lightly touched upon a few of their products, keep in mind that their line of products is far more expansive.
Moving on, Toro also manufactures products for professional contractors. Some of these include Landscape Drips, Controllers, Sprays, Rotors, Walk-Behind Trenchers, and many more.
Finally, Toro also has a line of Sports Field and Ground products, some of which include Seeders, Infield Groomers, Synthetic Turf Equipment, etc.
Without beating around the bush - yes! Toro products have been leading the global markets for decades now - and with good reason. Their products are reliable, innovative, and quite reasonably priced.
Moreover, Toro has developed a line of products for professionals as well as homeowners. No matter what you require, you can turn to Toro for the best products that are designed specifically to make life easier.
