The inception of Worx began in 2004 when Don Gao wished to branch out and create a range of garden and lawn equipment. With enthusiasm and hard work, he created one of the first Worx products by the name of WORX GT.
The WORX GT was an electric lawn trimmer, one of the first of its kind to be manufactured by Gao.
Things began looking up when he made acquaintance with Tom Duncan in the same year. An entrepreneur and former executive at a large and reputed company called Vermont American, Duncan decided to purchase the brand name of Rockwell Tools. He did this under the umbrella of Positec.
Soon after the move, Duncan was promoted to the head of the North American division of the company. His strategy was to sell both Rockwell and Worx from the company headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Positec began using infomercials and other forms of direct response marketing to sell Worx as an independent brand. The WORX GT became the first-ever Positec product sold with the help of infomercials in the US. It did not take long for the brand name to take off, becoming one of the most respectable, reputed, and loved brands in America.
By now, you know that the company began its journey into the world of garden and lawn tools with the WORX GT. Coincidentally, this particular model sold 313,000 units by the end of the first year, which just goes to show how well the customers received it.
As the years progressed, Worx started putting more effort into research and development to create some of the best, most efficient lawn equipment for the market. Moreover, the company is known to use domestic as well as foreign components to develop its line of products, which is excellent.
