Are Doc Martens Good For Snow

A pair of snow boots is a must-have for people living in colder climates. As such, it is important to go with a quality option.

Last week, my elder son came to visit me after two months. Recently he has shifted to North Dakota to pursue his master’s degree, where people experience sharp drops of temperature and excessive snowfall in the winter. Naturally, he was desperately looking for a quality pair of snow boots.

However, with various options available on the market, he was having a hard time choosing the right brand that is durable, offers comfort, and works well in snow. Seeing his frustration, I called up my husband for help when he suggested a brand called Doc Martens.

Furthermore, he told me about the different winter lines of the brand. Hi! I am Stacy Smith, and today I will be telling you if you should consider buying Doc Martens shoes for snow.

So, without further chit-chat, let’s get started!

Things To Know About Doc Martens

Doc Martens is one of the most popular brands in the footwear industry. It specializes in manufacturing military combat-like boots, which stand out from its competitors for its welted construction, air-cushioned soles, and attractive yellow stitching.

People identify with this brand for its individualism and rebellion, making it highly popular among the youth. With several rock bands endorsing it, it has become one of the most sought-after boot brands in the world and has gained a special spot in the fashion world.

Are Doc Martens Warm Enough For Snow?

From what I have learned so far, it mostly depends on how extreme the weather conditions are of the place you are living in. This brand was originally founded with the intention of delivering comfort and adding a sense of style to your get-up.

Even though most Doc Marten boots are made using leather, which offers sufficient insulation for the feet, they are not designed to handle excessively cold temperatures. So, in that case, the conventional Doc Marten shoes may not be the right choice to be used in areas that experience snowfall.

However, being a popular brand for its style and comfort, Doc Martens broadened its shoe collection to include boots that can deal with extremely cold temperatures. Here, I am talking about the brand’s DryWair, WarmWair, and WinterGrip lines. Not only are these shoes stylish, but they also offer optimal protection to your feet during the snowy winter season.

To satisfy the needs of its customers, Doc Martens introduced three separate boot lines that are ideal for use in snow. The manufacturers further enhanced the features of the boots so that people can even use them in areas with temperatures dropping below the freezing point.

So, let me tell you everything about its winter shoe collection in detail.

1. DryWair

DryWair line is comparatively new in the brand’s repertoire. It was introduced when the manufacturers of Doc Martens realized that winter is not just about the shivering cold; it’s also about the fact that shoes tend to get wet.

These boots are designed with oily and rich leather that makes them waterproof, thereby keeping your feet dry and warm in wet conditions. Not to mention, they are double-sealed, which stops water from seeping in.

So, if you are from a region that experiences cold and wet winters, I suggest going with a model from this line.

2. WarmWair

The WarmWair Doc Marten boots are meant for typical winters in the northern hemisphere that are snowy and extremely cold. In this line, you get the option to choose between the fleece and faux models.

Boots made of fleece are on the slimmer side, whereas those made with faux are slightly thicker. That said, both materials do a good job of keeping your feet warm during snowfall.

3. WinterGrip

Now, let me tell you about WinterGrip; this line from the brand is ideal for people who have to walk on icy surfaces regularly. As someone who has spent a significant amount of time in North Dakota, I understand how important it is to wear boots with a solid grip to avoid falling.

These boots feature high-quality cleats that help in providing sufficient traction. Plus, they are durable, which make them ideal for use on slippery surfaces. And like most other Doc Marten shoes, the leather used is water-resistant, which helps in keeping your feet warm and dry.

Are Doc Marten Boots Worth The Investment?

After testing my son’s new Doc Marten boots for a week, I can say that it is absolutely worth the investment. Besides providing top-quality protection from cold and snow, the brand ensures that it does not compromise on comfort and style.

Plus, one of the things that I liked about Doc Martens is that they look good with all outfits. For instance, my son can wear them with a party outfit or with a coverall. They even go well with regular trousers and can be worn in office settings.

So, make sure that you buy the right pair of boots based on your requirements. I got my son the Doc Marten 1460, which is ideal for use in snow.

Conclusion

With that, I have finally come to the end of my discussion on: are Doc Martens good for snow

I genuinely hope it has helped you gain all the knowledge you needed on Doc Martens and their usability in snow. Obviously, there are many other brands that you can go for, but I highly doubt they will provide the same level of comfort and protection.

Before I wrap up, I would advise you to choose a product that is specifically meant for snow, as it will be durable and waterproof. Now, that’s all for today and let me know what you think of Doc Martens in the comments below.

Until next time, ciao!
