Top 5 Shoes For Vet Techs Reviewed

1. Crocs On-The-Clock Work Slip-On

Crocs On-The-Clock Work Slip-On

Get ready for the grind, my vet techs! These Crocs On-The-Clock Work slip-ons are just what you need. With comfortable cushioning and lightweight soles, these slip-ons are perfect for long shifts. And the best part? They are super easy to clean. Buh-bye sticky fur and drool!

Product Highlights

If your toes have been screaming because of long hours and need some comfort, then Crocs On-The-Clock Work Slip-Ons are perfect. These slip-ons are designed while keeping the long working hours of baristas and medical staff like vet techs in mind.

So, forget about discomfort as these clogs are primarily made to avoid foot fatigue. Be it a 5-hour shift or 10; you won’t feel discomfort as the thermoplastic elastomers sole will provide ample shock resistance to avoid impact while walking. The lightweight material makes these crocs easy to sport, and the cushioned footbed provides excellent comfort.

Enhanced arch support and tapered heels make them more comfortable for long hours. Besides that, these are also slip-resistant and provide great traction on the hospital floors. The most wonderful part, however, is how easy to clean these slip-ons are.

All the fur and drool during duty can be easily cleaned with a wet cloth as these shoes are water-resistant. So, by choosing these clogs, you won’t just be choosing shoes but the excellent comfort that comes with them.

What's There To Like About It?

These on-the-clock Crocs are perfect for work that requires long hours like that of vet techs. They provide excellent comfort with adequate cushioning, arch support, and heel. Similarly, the TPE soles are good for shock absorption, and they are perfectly durable too.

Moreover, with the slip-resistant outsole, you don’t need to worry about running on the slippery tiles of hospitals if the need arrives. So, with these blissfully supportive shoes, you can rest assured and do your duties without the usual foot ache.

What's There Not To Like About It?

With old age, you start appreciating comfort over style, and that’s what I do. But not many youngsters are of the same idea. Therefore, for people who are nitpicky about style, there are high chances that these Crocs won’t meet their fashionable expectations.

So, if you don’t want to compromise on style even if your feet scream in pain, then good luck finding the perfect pair of shoes!

Pros and Cons of Crocs On-The-Clock Work Slip-On

  • Slip Resistant Confidence: Crocs Lock tread is designed for slick kitchen and hospital floors, helping you stay steady when spills happen

2. Skechers Women's Comfort Flex Health Care Professional Shoe

Skechers Women's Comfort Flex Health Care Professional Shoe

Did you wish for a shoe designed primarily to keep you comfortably on foot all time? Skechers Women's Comfort Flex Health Care Professional shoes heard you! These shoes are created with memory foam to provide all-day comfort with perfect traction.

Product Highlights

Vet techs need to be on their toes for multiple reasons; where sometimes they walk, while other times they run. Fortunately, these Skechers meet those requirements. They have great traction and provide perfect grip while walking, even on slippery floors.

You can walk comfortably and run smoothly without slipping while performing your duties. As the shoes have an ideal heel and toe support, there’s also no room for discomfort. The memory foam provides excellent cushioning for your feet, and you wouldn’t feel the burning sensation usually associated with standing for long hours.

But that’s not even the best part! The great thing is that the foam is air-cooled and you need not worry about smelly feet. Not only that, but these Skechers are water and stain-repellent too. So, rest assured about drool, snot, or fur on shoes as these can be easily washed.

What's There To Like About It?

From style to comfort, these Skechers provide everything a vet tech needs. These remain functional, comfortable, and flexible without facing the repercussions of long work hours. The memory foam has excellent cushioning for the perfect foot and heel support.

Also, your feet have the perfect room to breathe as these shoes have a wider toe box and breathable material. The upper is water and stain repellent, too, so you don’t have to worry about a dog urinating on your shoes.

What's There Not To Like About It?

To be honest, there’s nothing off-putting about these shoes, as they have been designed to meet the unique needs of healthcare professionals. However, there’s one thing that might be of concern, and that is - breaking in.

These shoes might need some time to break in and run a little wider. So, unlike Crocs slip-ons, which are true to size, these shoes might not be ideal for people with narrow feet.

Pros and Cons of Skechers Women's Comfort Flex Health Care Professional Shoe

Pros

  • Breathable material
  • Slip-resistant
  • Memory foam for comfort
  • Water repellant

Cons

  • Needs some breaking-in

3. Dansko Women's XP 2.0 Clogs

Dansko Women's XP 2.0 Clogs

Dansko has been delivering quality clogs to all professionals in need. So, it isn’t surprising that Dansko Women's XP 2.0 clogs with renewed design and comfort wound up on my list. If you want luxurious leather on your toes while working long hours, then these Danskos are it!

Product Highlights

The Dansko clogs are classy with a leather upper that can be wiped easily for a polished clean look. Apart from their stylish appearance, these are incredibly comfortable to sport with a PU footbed that can be easily removed.

The PU insoles are known to be lightweight and durable, which is great for long work hours. Also, the EVA midsole provides perfect shock absorption, so you don’t have to worry about burning pain after walking too much.

However, the cherry on the top is obviously the wider toe box, giving enough space for toes to wiggle and making these clogs wearable for long hours. Besides that, these clogs have great traction and feature an anti-slip outsole. Be it dry, wet, or on an oil-wet surface, these soles won’t betray you midway.

So, from style to comfort, you choose everything with these Dansko clogs.

What's There To Like About It?

These clogs have many features that make them suitable for long work hours, one such feature being comfort. The excellent cushioning and flexibility provided by PU soles are perfect. Coupled with the impact-absorbing qualities of EVA midsoles, these Danskos are top-notch when it comes to comfort.

Apart from that, these are very lightweight and easy to sport. The slip-resistant sole provides great traction on multiple surfaces, making it ideal for working on hospital grounds.

What's There Not To Like About It?

First things first! These Dansko clogs are costly for a pair of work clogs. Still, it’s understandable as leather is genuinely expensive. Apart from that, these won’t be suitable for people with the high arch as it collides with the top of the shoe lining while walking, which is uncomfortable. That’s why these shoes are quite a gamble, unlike Skechers.

Pros and Cons of Dansko Women's XP 2.0 Clogs

Product Highlights

Merrell Men's Jungle Moc Waterproof Slip-On shoes are made of 100% suede material and look exceptionally classy for work shoes. They are made with high-quality material with excellent cushioning to provide all-day comfort to your feet.

Featuring a waterproof membrane and odor prevention system, these slip-ons have been designed to meet the requirements of your long work hours. The targeted heel cushioning helps avoid stress, and the EVA footbed provides excellent impact absorption and stability while working.

Moreover, the rubber sole featuring an M-select grip provides excellent traction in mixed terrain, ranging from dry to wet. Apart from that, these outsoles are highly durable, and you don’t need to worry about them breaking mid-way or too soon.

Meanwhile, the nylon shanks make these shoes easy to sport and mold perfectly to the feet. So, if you want a comfortable fit with a lovely arch, these Merrells are it!

What's There To Like About It?

The most outstanding feature of these Merrells is their top-notch quality. From waterproof suede upper to water-repellent inners, these shoes are made to support you during long work hours. The comfortable EVA footbed and rubber sole further add value to them.

However, the hidden charm of these Merrell slip-ons is indeed the M-select Fresh odor prevention mechanism which controls feet from smelling. So, if that’s something you suffer from after working all day, rest assured that these shoes will keep your feet fresh without any unpleasant odor.

What's There Not To Like About It?

Unlike my top picks like Crocs or Skechers, these Merrells are not true to size and run a bit small. As such, you must carefully order the correct shoe size as it’s crucial to avoid any discomfort while working.

Other than that, there’s nothing unlikeable about these shoes as they’re super comfy to wear.

5. Clarks Women's Delana Abbey Clog

Clarks Women's Delana Abbey Clog

Do you want shoes that are easy to slip on and off? Then, these Clarks Women's Delana Abbey Clogs are perfect for you! With a cushioned footbed and lightweight outsole, these clogs are a classy fit for our vet techs out there.

Product Highlights

Moreover, the OrthoLite footbed provides ample cushioning to provide stability as well as flexibility while walking. The footbed is also breathable and moisture-repellent, making it suitable for longer shifts.

The EVA outsole is lightweight and an excellent shock-absorbant. It gives perfect traction on varying surfaces and won’t let you slip on duty. Apart from that, these clogs also feature a soft inner to provide complete flexibility and easy movements.

Also, even though these Clarks aren’t precisely designed for people with medical conditions, these might still prove helpful to people who have some foot problems. So, if you have narrow feet and want excellent comfort with style, then these Clarks won’t disappoint you.

What's There To Like About It?

When vet techs look for shoes, they’re constantly seeking comfort. They require the kind of shoes that can sustain the impact of their long working hours while minimizing discomfort from continuous walking or standing. Fortunately, these mules by Clarks meet these requirements, just like Crocs slip-ons with their comfortable soles and flexible footbeds.

On top of that, it also has a classy style which my top pick didn’t offer with its top-notch full-grain leather upper, which is easy to clean and maintain.

What's There Not To Like About It?

The reason why these shoes ended up last in the list, even with their top-notch quality, style, and comfort, was - size issues. These shoes run a bit narrow and wouldn’t be suitable for people with wide feet. As any shoe needs to fit perfectly to unlock its full potential, everything is lost if there’s a problem with it.

Pros and Cons of Clarks Women's Delana Abbey Clog

Pros

  • 100% leather
  • OrthoLite footbed
  • EVA outsole
  • Excellent comfort

Cons

  • Runs a bit narrow

Buyers Guide

Different shoes are designed to serve different purposes. Just as running shoes differ from gym ones, regular shoes differ from shoes particularly meant for vet techs too. The shoes that can conquer hardships of the time, especially long work hours, while providing top-notch comfort are the ones that professionals in this field must buy.

So, if you’ve been confused about what kind of shoes a vet tech should buy, here are some of the factors I have realized while looking for perfect shoes.

1. Comfort

The first thing that you need to look for while buying a great pair of vet tech shoes is comfort. A comfortable pair of shoes will make it possible to survive long work hours, and this goes without saying.

But remember that comfort is not only in design but also in size. If you thought wearing narrow-ended shoes while working was a disaster, then what about shoes that weren't your size? Horrifying, right? That’s why shoes which have an ample toe box and comfortable style are essential.

2. Material

Shoes with breathable and lightweight material should be ideal for long shifts. Not only that, but the material should be durable too, so it can handle the wear of time. On that note, shoes with leather uppers would best suit your vet tech needs.

They don’t only resist moisture but can be easily cleaned too. Besides, they’re easy to maintain and will hold their ground while you’re on shift. However, do remember that price can be a factor while buying shoes with good leather uppers as they’re usually costly.

In that regard, high-quality rubber material like the one used in Crocs would be ideal. It’s not only comfortable but affordable too. So, based on your comfort and convenience, you can choose either.

3. Arch Support

Shoes with ideal arch support, not too much or too little, are perfect for vet techs. As you’ll be working for long hours with constant walking or standing, shoes that provide stability and comfort with adequate arch support are a great choice.

4. Outsole

Another important factor that must not be forgotten while buying the best shoes for vet techs is the type of outsole. An outsole that is lightweight, flexible, durable, and offers excellent shock absorption is great for work. That’s why TPE or PU outsoles are perfect for vet tech shoes. They meet all the necessary characteristics of an excellent outsole, and therefore, that’s what you should buy.

Although EVA soles are good, too, they aren’t that durable compared to PU soles. However, if you want something extremely lightweight, then nothing can beat EVA soles in that regard, as these are the most lightweight in comparison to TPR and PU soles.

5. Footbed

For long-lasting comfort, stability, and easy movement, an excellent footbed is important. That's why a great footbed for vet tech shoes must have ideal cushioning, heel cup, and shock absorption to meet all these requirements.

There are many types of footbeds in the market, ranging from foam to rubber. However, Ortholite footbeds are an ideal choice to ensure your feet stay comfortable. Although costlier than the other options in the market, they have a great value to them in terms of support and comfort.

6. Easy To Clean

Now, we can't deny that vet techs get their shoes dirty in the course of their work. From fur to urine, there are a hell lot of things that end up on their shoes. Thus, having shoes that can be easily cleaned is obviously important.

Shoes with leather, rubber, suede, and other water-resistant materials are a good choice. Even washable shoes like Skechers meet the criteria when it comes to easy-to-clean vet tech shoes. Hence, depending on your comfort, style, and budget, you can choose either of the shoes.

7. Price

Lastly, price matters, and that goes without saying! There will be many options that you'll explore when looking for vet tech shoes. However, not every shoe fits the bill. And let's be honest here, do you want to spend more than $100 on a shoe that will end up being urinated on?

That's why a quality pair of shoes that doesn't require deep digging in your pocket is essential. But do remember that a comfortable pair of shoes will undoubtedly cost you more than a cheap one. However, as I always say, getting a nice pair of shoes is an investment which you shouldn't take too lightly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What kind of shoes should vet techs wear?

Shoes that are comfortable, flexible, water-resistant, durable, and have great traction are the ones that vet techs should wear.

Q2. What type of outsole is most comfortable for vet techs?

PU, EVA, and TPE soles are very comfortable. However, when it comes to durability, nothing can beat TPE soles. Thus, you should go for them if you want the vet tech shoes to last longer.

My Final Recommendation

That marks the end of my detailed review of the best shoes for vet techs. I hope I was able to help you to arrive at a conclusive decision regarding the shoes that vet techs must wear.

If you’d like to know my opinion, then I would recommend Crocs On-The-Clock Work Slip-Ons as they are lightweight, comfortable, easy to wear, and clean. They meet all the requirements of an excellent vet tech shoe, which will help you get by with long work hours without any sign of foot fatigue.

Now, if you don’t like clogs for work, then Skechers Women's Comfort Flex Health Care Professional Shoes would be perfect, too, with their comfortable lace-up style and excellent cushioning. However, if you don’t mind spending a little over your budget, then Dansko Women's XP 2.0 Clogs are a nice catch.
