Do Gel Insoles Really Work

With constant technology improvements, it was only a matter of time before walking became more comfortable.

The standard insoles that you see on the market are made of plastic polymer. But what if I tell you that there’s something even better? I love walking, and I was hell-bent on making sure that I find something which helps me walk a few extra miles every day without experiencing foot fatigue. And that’s when I was introduced to gel insoles.

There’s no doubt that gel shoe insoles provide many benefits that traditional ones cannot. But you should always make sure to calculate what your requirements are before making the final decision. And that requires knowing about them in detail.

Hi! I am Stacy Smith, and today, I will discuss the most common questions that people have about gel insoles. As you are here, I am guessing that you have a few too. So, if you are wondering: do gel insoles really work? then you are at the right place.

Without any further delay, let’s check them out!

1. Why Are Gel Insoles Required?

Most humans are naturally built in a way that their bodies have the capacity to move freely. Everything in the body, including the joints, bones, and ligaments, are connected and work together to create movements.

If any of these parts are even slightly misaligned, your feet may end up suffering long-term malfunctions or deformations. That said, it is not necessary that you restrict yourself to wearing gel insoles only during severe foot or backache.

I would suggest that you wear gel insoles to improve your posture. This will have long-term benefits, as you will enjoy optimum support during walking or moving your body. Moreover,  it gets easier to fix the misalignments when your feet get quality support. And if you have arthritis or backache, then gel insoles may help achieve some much-needed relief.

2. Should You Walk In Gel Insoles?

Honestly, I do not have one answer to this question, as there are both pros and cons to be considered. To look at the bright side, these soles are highly durable and can easily handle your body weight without any trouble. And the best part is that they keep your feet in good shape and absorb all the shocks when walking.

On the other hand, gel insoles are usually quite heavy. So, I don’t use them while wearing boots, as they add to the weight on my feet. I also know that a few of my friends do not use them for prolonged periods because they complain that gel insoles are not really breathable.

But I cannot deny the fact that they are super simple to clean after you are done walking. You can directly give them a mild turn in the washer, and they will become clean in no time.

3. Do Gel Insoles Make Your Feet Sweat?

I’m sure that I am not the only person who hates having a sweaty foot after walking for a mile. You must be on the same boat too!

Similarly, I have seen a lot of people complaining about how regular insoles often make their feet sweat profusely. But this won’t be the case after you start using gel insoles, as they have perforated sweat vents, which make your feet sweat a lot less.

In short, you get all the required cushioning without having sweaty feet by the end of your evening walk.

4. Is It Possible To Put Gel Insoles Over Regular Insoles?

Putting gel insoles over your existing pair of insoles is not something unusual. But I would strongly suggest that you avoid doing so, as this “double layering” may make your feet feel uncomfortable.

When you place one insole over the other, they occupy a lot of space in the shoes and hardly leave any for your feet. But you need to make sure that your shoes never feel too tight.

If your feet do not rest properly, then chances are that the gel insoles won’t be able to provide the advantage of supporting your feet and absorbing shocks when required.

5. Can You Wear Gel Insoles With High-Heeled Shoes?

I have read a lot of reviews where people have complained about facing problems when wearing gel insoles with high heels. But even if it feels a little uncomfortable, there are significant benefits of using them. For example, it can prevent your feet from developing blisters.

With proper research, you can even get your hands on gel insoles that prevent the feet from sliding. This will enable you to walk more comfortably than usual. Plus, such insoles are specially made to ensure that the pressure put on your foot is never too much.

When wearing gel insoles with heels, make sure that they stick well to your shoes' bottom. And without proper placement, they may do more harm than good.

6. Does A Gel Insole Make Your Shoes Feel Smaller?

You are not the only one who thinks that inserting a gel insole will make your shoe feel tighter. From what I have experienced, it is best that you put it in shoes that are already a little roomy, which will make them fit better.

When the fit is better, your feet are in more contact with the inner surface of the shoe for optimum weight distribution. However, some people like to wiggle their feet to fight foot fatigue. And if that is the case with you too, this might not be a good option.
