How Long After Spraying 24D Can I Mow?

Dealing with weeds is an uphill battle, especially when trying to juggle a clean lawn and weed killers at the same time.

I don’t often get time to tend to the lawn, so I was wondering how long after spraying 24D can I mow to plan out my landscaping chores. If you are curious as well, worry not. I have gathered everything you need to know to get your yard clean and weed-free.

How Long After Spraying 24D Can I Mow?

How Does 24D Work?

24D is one of the most widely used concentrated weed killers and needs to be mixed with water in order to fully penetrate the leaves of the weeds. The solution then works its way into the plant via the leaves and down the root system to ultimately kill it. And the length of the leaves can impact how well the 24D will be absorbed by the plant.

When To Mow After Applying 24D?

To allow the 24D enough time to be absorbed by the leaves of the plant, I will suggest waiting for anywhere between 24 and 48 hours after application. This period should be enough for the herbicide to reach the root system and begin taking effect. The weakened roots will then allow the weed to be uprooted easily the next time you mow.

Mowing too soon after spraying the 24D can result in a less than satisfactory result. Shorter leaves make it harder for the herbicide to make its way into the plant, so if needed, allow the weeds to grow a bit more before actually spraying them down.

How To Improve The Efficiency Of 24 D?

Weeds are quite stubborn at times and will pop up here and there or not be affected by the 24D as much as expected. So, what is to be done if the lawn has been mowed and there are still weeds lying around? In this case, allow the freshly cut lawn to grow again before respraying the herbicide.

My recommendation is to have an additional growing period of at least three to five days followed by one or two days after the 24D has been reapplied. This will ensure the leaves of the remaining weeds grow out again, so the effectiveness of the herbicide is improved. A larger surface area for absorption means a more efficient penetration of the 24D.

Final Words

With that, I will conclude my guide on how long to wait on mowing after spraying 24D. I hope you were able to learn something new to apply to your own garden.

Patience is a crucial virtue, especially when it comes to gardening and landscaping, so let nature take its course at times. Learning more about when and how to use gardening products can save you a headache down the line, so keep these points in mind.

Good luck against those weeds, and until next time!
