When a tree is diseased or infected, it can affect the natural growth of its surrounding vegetation. You need an excellent herbicide like Tordon that can work fast and effectively to kill the tree.
So, in this article, I’ll talk about how long it takes for Tordon to kill a tree and how it works.
Tordon is one of the best herbicides currently available on the market because it can kill a tree quickly and effectively. Once you’ve treated the infected tree with Tordon, it will be completely dead within a week to 30 days at the most.
It affects the tree stump after only a few days; however, it might take longer to kill a tree using Tordon if you haven’t cut down the tree first. Also, you’re not likely to have any regrowth from a tree stump that’s treated with Tordon.
Tordon is a potent herbicide, so you have to be careful while using it to kill a tree. In this section, I’ll discuss some easy steps that you can follow for using Tordon.
The first step when you’re using Tordon is to gear up. Wear your protective goggles and rubber gloves as the herbicide can be very toxic, and never use Tordon without your protective clothing.
Once you’re all geared up, make two-inch cuts on the tree trunk using an ax to reach its sapwood. Cut at two to four feet height all across the circumference of the tree, leaving two to three inches of space in between each cut.
Now, it’s time to fill the applicator bottle or tree injector with Tordon. Measure the amount recommended by the manufacturer and fill up the device.
Also, keep in mind that the amount of Tordon will vary based on the tree size.
Finally, inject the cuts on the circumference of the tree with the herbicide. Wet the cut area, but don’t allow the herbicide to runoff; one to two milliliters of Tordon per cut should do the trick.
