How Long Does It Take To Redo Floors

Old and worn-out floors can spoil the aesthetics of any house. So, it is essential to redo them once in a while.

After all, floors are susceptible to spills, grits, and drops, making them prone to damage. And if you have wooden floors, scratches and marks are quite common. That said, you might be wondering how long it would take to redo floors.

So, let me guide you through!

How Long Does It Take To Redo Floors

There are a few determining factors that will help you understand the time period needed to redo floors. They are as follows:

1. Size Of The Floor

Pay attention to the size of the floor that needs to be redone or refinished. If it is under 5,000 square feet, then the work can be done within one to three days. However, if the size is bigger, then the job will take approximately a week to finish.

As I found out, two people can work on 750 to 1,000 square feet of floor area every day. You can then make the calculation from thereon.

2. Climate

If you are planning to install tiles on the floor, then the weather needs to be dry for them to settle quickly. The chemicals need to dry, and the floor has to be left untouched for that to happen. But if the weather is humid or it is raining a lot, then it might take a few more days to dry.

3. Condition Of The Existing Floor

The workers will take some time to remove the old flooring from the place and install new ones. This process of removal will be time-consuming. Also, if the old floor is damp or moisture keeps rising up from the ground, then special chemicals will have to be applied. It can just take a day but it has to be left for another few hours to dry.

Hence, I believe that the entire process will take approximately a week or two to complete. I would recommend keeping 14 days in hand to ensure that the entire process is done well.

Final Words

Please make separate arrangements for living while the floors are being worked upon. That is because they will need to be left untouched for some time. You can also talk with the construction team and take their advice on it.

If living in a separate place is not possible, they will start working in one room at a time, and you can adjust accordingly. This may increase the time span but you will be able to live on the property.  However, I will recommend staying elsewhere as the amount of dust and noise can be problematic.

So, how long does it take to redo floors? Well, I hope this guide answers your question and helps you handle the work well.

Till next time, take care and have fun redecorating!
