How To Adjust Idle On Poulan Pro Chainsaw

Whether you’re a professional or a homeowner, a chainsaw comes in handy for a variety of tasks.

And when it comes to chainsaws, Poulan Pro has taken the woodworking market by storm because of its affordability and performance. While new chainsaws are well-tuned, the idle on the old ones need to be adjusted from time to time.

Since adjusting the idle is slightly tricky, I decided to put together a guide to help you out. So, keep reading!

How To Adjust Idle On Poulan Pro Chainsaw?

It goes without saying that a carburetor controls how much air and fuel are mixed so that the right combustible mixture is generated. Too little fuel can damage the engine, while too much can choke it; that’s why balance is important.

Though adjusting the idle isn’t challenging, getting it right is slightly tricky. Once you adjust the chainsaw idle perfectly, you’ll be able to complete the tasks in a breeze.

Here’s how you can adjust idle on your Poulan Pro Chainsaw:

1. Safety First

Before you begin working on your chainsaw, it’s important to take some safety measures. Hence, place your chainsaw on a flat surface, free from obstructions while ensuring that the chain is overhanging the surface.

Next, move all the objects so that they don’t obstruct the chain while working. Also, wear protective gear such as leather gloves, a long-sleeve shirt, close-toe shoes, and safety glasses.

2. Adjusting The Carburetor Idle Speed

First off, search for the ideal speed screw marked with a “T” above the primer bulb. After that, turn on the chainsaw as usual and let it idle while ensuring it doesn’t come into contact with anything.

If the engine idles at a slow pace, turn the speed screw clockwise with a flat-head screwdriver to increase the engine speed. When the chain starts moving, rotate the screw counterclockwise till the motor idles without breaking down.

Does The Idle Need Adjusting?

You must have heard the saying, “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it,” and the same goes for a chainsaw. If your machine is functioning smoothly and efficiently, you need not tinker with it.

However, if your chainsaw doesn’t start easily or roars, falters, and shuts off abruptly, then something is wrong with the idle. Also, if it stops and dies while working, it’s a sign that the idle needs adjustment.

Summing It Up

Those who own a Poulan Pro Chainsaw must know how to adjust idle on Poulan Pro Chainsaw to keep it working smoothly and efficiently.

However, if you notice performance issues even after adjusting the idle, stop using your chainsaw then and there. Also, make sure you get it checked or fixed at a local hardware store.

With that, it’s time to call it a day; but I’ll be back soon with more such interesting guides. Until next time!
