Lawn Mower tires, especially the large ones, can take a while to change and replace.
But, puncturing them with sharp stones and twigs is inevitable while mowing the lawn. As an owner of a lawn mower, you'll have to change the tires at least a few times in your lifetime.
Today, I've decided to show you the best way to break down the tire of any lawn mower.
1. Remove The Wheel From The Mower
It's difficult to dismantle the tire when it is still attached to the lawn mower's body. So, you’ll have to detach it for a better working range.
Unscrew all the mounting nuts and bolts to remove the wheel carefully. This part might need two or more people since the mower wheels are quite heavy.
2. Place The Tire On Flat Ground
With the help of a friend, lay the tire down on the ground, making sure the surface is flat without any bumps and rubble. There’s a reason I am stressing this part. Mainly, I've had experiences laying tires on uneven ground, and dismantling them becomes challenging when they move about so often.
3. Try To Insert The Screwdriver
Poke the sides of the tire near the edge of the rim to find an opening. Now, break the seal to get the screwdriver between the tire and the rim. I'll admit, this takes some time and effort, especially if you're doing it for the first time.
However, if you hold the wheel firmly, the process will become much quicker. Also, all this while, you should be mindful of not damaging the rim by using too much strength.
4. Break The Bead
Some people like stepping on the rim to get a better grip, but that's up to you. And as I said earlier, you can use any comfortable method as long as the rim stays in good condition. Slowly but surely, you can separate the rim from the rubber with the right pressure.
You should be able to see the rubber lifting off as you detach it from the rim. Note that they are attached from two sides, so once you have finished removing one side, switch to the other and do the same thing.
