So, if you’re wondering, “how to burn out a stump with charcoal?” I’ve got you covered. Keep reading!

How To Burn Out A Stump With Charcoal?

Though it may appear challenging, burning out a tree stump with charcoal isn’t that difficult. So, if you’re wondering how to go about it, I’ve mentioned all the steps you need to follow to remove a pesky stump from your yard.

1. Dig The Area Around The Stump

Before digging, look for the hidden roots because you’ll have to expose them to get rid of the stump. Once you figure out where they are, start digging until they become visible.

2. Drill Holes

After exposing the roots, it’s time to drill holes on and around the troubling stump. While doing that, I suggest you drill as deep as possible because it will make the burning task easy for you.

Ideally, you should drill holes at least 8 inches deep using the thickest drill bit available.

3. Pour A Highly Flammable Liquid Into The Holes

When it comes to highly flammable liquids, vegetable oils are your best bet because they are combustible, so pour them into the holes. Also, make sure you add the oil adequately and leave it to soak overnight to burn the stump faster.

4. Arrange Charcoal Over The Stump

Now grab a bag of charcoal, take a few pieces and place them on the stump. Begin by arranging them one by one on the thickest areas, or put the whole bag on the stump.

Also, make sure you place some pieces in the trenches and leave no area exposed because the more surface you cover, the faster it will burn.

5. Burn The Charcoal

Grab a piece of paper, light it up with a matchstick and toss it on the charcoal to light up the stump. However, if the charcoal doesn’t burn right away, pour some kerosene oil over it and try to light it up. It’s advisable to keep an eye on the fire so that it doesn’t create any havoc while burning.

6. Clean The Mess

Dig bits of burnt wood, collect the charcoal, and hose off the area to eliminate soot. Also, don’t forget to dig the area for removing roots from the ground using a shovel.

Summing It Up

So, are you ready to burn out that ugly tree stump to restore the beauty of your yard?

Though time-consuming, getting rid of tree stumps is easy, and you can do it by following the steps mentioned above. However, if something goes wrong, don’t be afraid to roll back and try again.

Also, don’t forget to take precautionary measures before burning the stump to prevent accidents. Adios!
