How to Fix Low Spots In Shower Floor

Low spots are one of the most frustrating things to discover on a shower floor.

On top of that, large low spots can even compromise the hygiene of your bathroom. That's why it's essential to fix the low spot before it disrupts your daily life.

To help you out, I am here to answer the question, "how to fix low spots in shower floor?" So, without further ado, let's get started!

Identify The Low Spots

Most people come to know about low spots when they experience uneven dryness on their shower floor. Deeper low spots can even become prominent puddles that take a long time to dry. So, first, try to find out how many of them are there to fix the issue in one go.

Having said that, at times, the low spot is quite insignificant and may not even require any fixing. That's why I recommend taking your time to think and decide if the low spots are truly inconvenient before proceeding to work on the floor.

Ways To Fix The Issue

Here are some common ways to fix the low spots:

1. Cover With A Cement Floor Leveler

One of the most straightforward ways of fixing a floor depression is to apply a cement floor leveler. You can even try to grind down the area with a diamond abrasive to ensure that it’s level with the rest of the floor. Also, make sure to apply a waterproof coating like epoxy on the cement floor leveler to seal it into place.

2. Change The Tiles

Do you have tiles on your shower floor? If yes, then a low spot can look pretty bad. However, you can fix it by crushing some tiles near the low spot using a hammer. Then, remove them using a chisel, along with the previous mortar, or else the floor would end up being uneven.

Follow it up by using the right amount of bedding compound to fix the new tiles and ensure that it's level with the rest of your shower floor.

3. Adding Another Layer Of Flooring

Some people like to cover their whole shower floor with entirely new tiles to take the easy route. This removes the need to fix a small area that may end up being uneven if it's not done right.

Final Words

That's everything I had to tell you about how to fix low spots on the shower floor

Don't worry if there are a couple of low shallow spots on your floor, as they can be easily cleaned every day. Apart from that, if you're facing severe drainage and hygiene issues, contact a professional contractor to fix them. They will also help you get a clean and tidy bathroom that lasts for a long time.

Until next time, goodbye, and take care!
