How To Keep Island Sink Clutter-Free

I don’t know about you all, but one thing or other keeps filling up my island sink so quickly.

You just clean it in the evening, and the next day, it starts overflowing again. It’s very pervasive, and you must deal with it as quickly as possible. I find it important to clean it regularly so the clutter doesn’t deposit in monstrous proportions.

So how to keep island sink clutter-free? Continue reading to know more.

1. Why Keep The Island Sink Clutter-Free?

As I’ve mentioned earlier about cleaning it regularly, you might think, how do I repeatedly find the motivation to do the same task? Let me tell you more about it.

Everybody has guests come over to their place, and you wouldn’t want them to see your kitchen in a mess. Moreover, I get my peace of mind when I see my space clear and clean. And I’m sure you will also feel the same way.

2. How To Keep Island Sink Clutter-Free?

A. Removing Unwanted Things

Being a creative person, I have made some extra effort to keep my kitchen clean and appealing, so you can try them out as well.

For example, add a gorgeous centerpiece to your kitchen island and remove the things that aren’t needed. Keeping unwanted or rarely-used items away from your island sink decreases the chances of it getting cluttered.

You can design a countertop beside your sink to store these additional items. And once you’ve cleaned your dishes, keep the dishwashing gloves to dry and clip them onto a command hook in the cabinet. You can also build one cabinet beneath the sink as it helps you stay organized and clean.

B. Keeping A Separate Basket For Your Silverware

It has often happened in the past that I kept my silverware on the countertop beside the island sink, and one or two fell into it. I found it difficult to remove them and had to call a plumber. But if I let it remain stuck, the sink will get cluttered soon and overflow.

So, to deal with it, I’ve bought a separate basket to keep my silverware in after washing them. Not only does it allow me to keep my sink clean, but it also makes them easier to wash and store in one place.

C. Use The Trash Can

Lastly, make sure you always use a trash can to throw away your box packaging or food bar wrappers. It prevents these wastes from falling into the sink and keeps it clutter-free.

Final Words

Keeping an island sink clutter-free is entirely up to you. Make it a habit to clean it every day and make sure no unwanted objects pass onto the sink and get it clogged.

Apart from that, it's important to clean the sink pipe more often, which you can do on your own or call a plumber for regular maintenance purposes. That latter might cost you more, but you wouldn’t want to compromise on cleanliness, right?
