Cold and wet weather outside can be the perfect reason for spiders to take shelter in the warmth and dryness of your car.
But having a spider crawling up your leg is not a pleasing thought. Hence, I am here to tell you all about how to kill spiders in your car.
So, read on!
1. Clean And Vacuum
Cluttered spaces are breeding grounds for insects, so the first thing that you need to do is declutter the car. Once you have removed everything, use a vacuum to suck up all the dirt and any pests. This should clear away adult spiders, baby spiders, and eggs that are visible.
2. Fill Cracks
Next, you will need to fill any gaps or cracks that you may find around the car. Remember that these can be places through which spiders are entering. Also, check for crevices on the floor and behind the backseat.
3. Chlorine Oxide Car Odor Remover
Chlorine oxide can help in removing any spiders left in the car. At the same time, the odor remover ensures that your car smells fresh.
This product, sometimes known as a chromium bomb, emits a gas that travels to all the corners to make sure that hidden spiders are also affected.
All you have to do is add the chlorine oxide powder to some water in a cup and place it in the car for an hour. Close the car and keep it away from sunlight.
4. Making Use Of Spider Traps
Some types of spiders, including yellow sac, black widow, and hobo, are very good at hiding. For them, you will need to use spider traps. These will lure them out, and then the spiders will get stuck in the trap. Alternatively, some traps will kill the spiders immediately.
You can keep the trap inside the car in the evening and let it remain in place overnight. Then, throw the trap with the dead spiders the following day.
5. Citrus Essential Oil
Another excellent method to drive away spiders is using citrus essential oils. You can add some citrus essential oil to a can of water and spray the solution in the corners of the car. This will bring out the spiders from hidden spaces. Pair it up with a trap, and all the spiders can be killed or removed in one go.
Apart from my go-to solutions, you can use other tried-and-tested methods, such as spraying white vinegar in the car. This kitchen essentials has an acetic smell, which irritates spiders and other pests.
Other than that, diatomaceous earth works well in killing spiders. You will have to spread it on the floor, and the earth will get into the bodies of spiders, dehydrating and killing them.
And whichever method you choose, remember to vacuum your car often. Such preventative measures ensure that you don’t create a habitable environment for the spiders and other insects to live in.
With that, I will be ending my guide. Take care!
