What do you do when weeds overtake the garden and ruin its beauty?
Often, people use a weed-killing solution to spray it over the lawn to remove the unwanted growths. And pump sprayers that mix the solution with water are the most convenient tool to reach a large surface area in a short time.
So, to help you out, here is my guide on “how to open a pump sprayer?”
Opening a spray pump is a pretty straightforward process. Firstly, push the pump handle downwards and turn the device counterclockwise to lock it in place. Next, turn the pump handle in the same direction till you can see the lid starting to unscrew. This is the easiest way to open and prepare a pump sprayer from adding herbicides to the garden.
While opening the pump sprayer is the easiest part, there are quite a few steps you need to take in order to use it correctly. I’ve listed a short way to help you get started with spraying herbicides without creating a mess.
Get dressed in the right gear before embarking on the garden. A full sleeve shirt with long pants would be ideal, as would be shoes that keep your toes covered at all times. To protect the face and hands, wear safety gloves and glasses.
Remove the sprayer and turn it counterclockwise to remove it from the tank. In most cases, you will need to fill the tank with half water and another half with herbicide. Do remember that some herbicides may need more dilution than others.
To get the perfect solution, you may have to measure the garden area that needs spraying. This will help you figure out the ideal amount of herbicide for the lawn area.
Close the top lid so that the canister is pressurized correctly, and adjust the nozzle for a broader or narrower spray pattern. If you have a large area to cover, keep the spray settings as large as possible.
The correct distance to spray grass and plants is an approximate distance of 10-12 inches. Squeeze the trigger on the spray hose to cover the grass and plants with herbicide solution till they appear damp. Once the plants are saturated and small drips appear, move on to the next section of the lawn.
