Well, I relate to you because I don’t like any icky business around my pool either, especially grass. You should remove it as soon as possible and take appropriate steps to stop it from growing if you don’t want the pool to look like a swamp.

How To Prevent Grass From Growing Under Pool
1. Gather The Tools
Get the right tools instead of winging the task with your hands to efficiently remove grass from your pool underside. For getting it done in a jiffy, you’ll need a shovel, weed killer, weed barrier, some sand, wood chips, and mulch.
2. Dig Around The Pool
Take a shovel and dig four inches on the inner side of the pool wall and twelve inches on the outside. This depth will make sure that you’ve removed the grass from their roots and not just superficially. In the case of the latter, the blades will grow right back in no time, nullifying all your hard work.
3. Put Some Layers Of Newspaper And Weed Barrier
Moving ahead, put at least four layers of newspaper on both sides of the pool wall. This will provide cushioning to the pool liner and save it from the damage caused by grass blades and the cemented floor. Additionally, place a layer of weed barrier on top of that to keep nasty grass at bay.
4. Spray Weed Killer
Next, you’ll need to spray weed killer all over the weed barrier, and we suggest doing it liberally. Do wear a mask or cover your mouth with a cloth while doing this, as weedicides can be pretty toxic.
5. Top It With Sand
Lastly, spread some sand over the barrier, preferably three inches on the inner and outer sides of the pool wall. You can also install a plastic garden edge alongside the barrier to give it extra protection.
Additionally, you can add some wood chips, mulch, or any landscaping material of your choice outside the wall to perk it up.
Tips And Tricks
Even if you use a generous amount of weed killer, some weeds like nutgrass eventually creep in some way or the other. That’s why you’ll have to be attentive and keep spraying the weedicide on grass that tries to grow over the prepared area all through the season.
