Weedeaters are a popular yard accessory that can be used to remove excess plants from gardens. And it is important that these machines run smoothly.
Now, in case you are facing issues with the weedeater mechanism, there is nothing to worry about, as in most cases, only the coil may need to be replaced. So, I have curated this guide to tell you how to replace coil on weedeater.

Step 1: Opening The Casing
You can use a screwdriver to open the housing and the casing. The engine needs to be accessed, and it will become easier once the outer covering is removed.
Step 2: Disconnecting The Wires
After you can see the engine clearly, remove the coil module with the help of needle-nose pliers. It has to be pulled from the spark plug boot so that the connection is turned off.
Then, you will need to open the ignition wires connected to the engine and the coil module. Again, use needle-nose pliers to do the job.
Step 3: Removing the Coil
Next, you have to remove all the additional fasteners that are still connected to the module. These are the ones that are holding the engine and the coil together. Once the fasteners are separated, you can take the coil off.
Step 4: Removing The Coil Spring
While taking out the old coil, remember to take out the coil spring of the spark plug and the spark plug boot as well. The spring does not get damaged easily and can be reused; hence, it needs to be transferred to the new one. However, be gentle while pulling it out; there will be two ends that are lodged into the plug wire.
Step 5: Attaching The Coil To The Spark Plug Wire
You will need to remove the heat shield of the ignition wire from the old coil. Then, take out the ignition wire with the help of nose pliers. The parts need to be attached to the new coil in the opposite order from how they were removed.
Once done, you can reattach the heat shield along with the spark plug boot and the spring. The spring will need to be pushed into the spark plug wire, and you can use pliers to do the job. Finally, attach the coil to one side of the spark plug wire.
As the last step, connect the engine to the new module and screw back all the fasteners. The flywheel needs to be turned so that the magnets face the ignition module. Now, place a thick card on the magnets and screw the fasteners well.
This will help keep a gap between the ignition coil and the magnets. You can then reconnect the ignition wires and spark plug boot before attaching the casing back to the body.
Switch on the device, and it should now work smoothly. Happy gardening!
