Renovating a house involves a lot of planning and effort.
Especially when it comes to choosing the right color for painting, you wouldn’t want to go wrong at any cost! You must have some favorite shades, and you might be wondering if they are suited for the walls. But let me tell you that while some colors may look good on cushions, they might not look attractive on walls.
Besides, with time some colors go out of trend while some become the trend of the season. I believe in following trends, and I was just talking to my friend Angie about it the other day. She has been reading up a lot on interior colors and shared her knowledge with me.
Hi! I am Stacy Smith, and today, I will walk you through the trending colors that are being preferred by homeowners. So, if you want to know what are the best interior paint colors for 2021, my guide should help you select a few for your rooms.
Read on!
1. Blue
I believe that the color blue is one of the most soothing colors and will work very well for bedrooms and living rooms. You will want a peaceful ambiance to return to every day, and blue walls can help in building just that.
Deep blue shades are one of the favorites in 2021, as they provide a “cooling” vibe and match well with neutral or mid-tone colored furniture.
Angie is of the opinion that no shade of blue can be boring, and I truly stand by it. You can even keep plants and black lampshades against blue walls to create a truly calming ambiance.
2. Green
Green is one of the universally favorite colors, and many people want to add it to all their rooms. The deep green shade, in particular, is synonymous to leaves and nature, and can add a subtle touch of elegance. You can paint green patterns on the wall or highlight the wall accent with a deep shade of dirty green.
Other than that, try pairing light-colored wooden furniture with a dark green wall to create a nice contrast in the décor.
3. Light Pink
Pink is a shade that can provide calming and elegant vibes to almost any room. While brighter shades of pink were previously used for kids’ bedrooms, pastel shades of pink have become a hit in recent times. People have complimented me on the beautiful pink shade that I have in my bedroom and it will make for the perfect background for your video meeting as well.
Just ensure that you do not select any glossy shade, as that can make the walls look cheap. Instead, go for a matte finish or a textured finish in baby pink and pair it up with some plants.
4. Rust
Rust color has the ability to render a terracotta feel to the space, and it works perfectly for adding earthy vibes to the room. It is a vibrant tone that can be used to add a pop of color in a room painted with neutral colors. You can also use this shade for your interior furniture pieces.
Plus, it is a gender-neutral shade, so you can use it for your kid’s bedrooms too. It will further stand out if you pair rust-colored walls with light-colored upholstered furniture.
5. Red
Red provides a very positive and vibrant vibe to the interiors, and it’s indeed one of the earthier colors in the palette. It helps people make conscious decisions, and it is a very versatile option to choose.
Not only that, but it’s also the perfect choice for highlighting a particular wall to make it the “focal point” of the room. Hence, you can use it to create an accent wall and add a white trim on the sides. The white will highlight the doors and windows and provide the perfect finish to the walls.
6. Dark Teal
If you are confused between blue and green, then let me tell you that dark teal is back on the market to offer the best of both worlds. It adds drama to the room and can make it look absolutely mesmerizing. Besides, you can get a semi-tropical vibe if you add jute and bamboo flower bags to match the color.
7. White
White is one of my favorite shades and it is like a trend that never fades with time. This color works perfectly well for small rooms and will help in decluttering them. If you have a small apartment, you can paint it all white and add grey trims. Then, pair it up with wooden furniture and colorful pillows.
Add plants and macramé holders to build a distinctly attractive boho look. You can also paint your rooms with a warm white shade, which will provide a very cozy feel to the space.
8. Orange
I am not talking about bright orange shades here but a lighter and soft tone. It is an earthy, “romantic” tone and is the perfect fusion between historical and contemporary colors. It will help build optimism and hope, so you can use this shade practically in any room.
