Which Indoor Plants Are Safe for Cats?

Did you know that cats can be allergic to certain plants? They have been known to have skin reactions to lavender, chrysanthemums, poinsettia, and peppermint, among other plants. Not only can the plants themselves be a health hazard, but they can also cause a cat to become ill. Since there is no way to be completely sure that a cat will not react to a particular plant, it's best to avoid plants known to irritate cats.

Here is a list of indoor plants that are safe for cats:

African violet

African violets are a great indoor plant because they're low maintenance, look cool, and have a long lifespan. Also, they are non-toxic to cats even when ingested.

Wax plant

Wax plants are easy to take care of. They are perfect for any environment because they are very robust and extremely resilient. And they are also very safe for cats.

Staghorn fern

Staghorn ferns are gorgeous, bright green indoor plants with long, narrow fronds that grow up to 6 or 7 inches. They come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and while some species are toxic, many are perfectly safe for cats. Plus, these plants are perfect for adding height to your home since they are great for filling in spaces.

Haworthia

Haworthia is a genus of plants commonly called "shield plants" because of their thick, oval leaves that have a striped appearance. This type of succulents has a rich green color that makes them a very popular houseplant. Also, it is not generally poisonous to cats.

Spider plant

Spider plants are one of several popular indoor plants that are also safe for cats, although they are sometimes misidentified as poisonous. The plant is widely used in the house because of the spider-like appearance of the plant, which has leaves with sharply pointed tips. The leaves also have a white spot pattern on them.

Boston fern

is one of the most popular houseplants in the world. So, are they safe for cats? Yes, if you choose the right cultivar. The Boston fern has become so popular because of its pleasant fragrance and its growing well indoors. But, while the Boston fern is easy to grow, it can be dangerous for cats if you don't know what's inside it.

Parlor Palm

are a breed of indoor plant that is generally safe to put in the home. They are very safe for cats, which are generally curious animals that are likely to be exposed to these plants.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus is one of the most popular indoor plants that cats can have. It is a very pretty plant that blooms spectacularly. It has bright red color flowers that are said to be safe for cats. They are also relatively easy to grow, are drought-tolerant, and don't require much light.

So, if you are looking for indoor plants but at the same time considering the safety of your furry friend, the ones listed above are great plants that you can add to your collection of indoor plants.
