Steps To Remove The Head From A Craftsman Weedwacker

Even though a Craftsman weedwacker can do wonders while trimming the weeds, you still need to change the cutting line from time to time to maintain its working order. And to do that, you have to remove the head from your weedwacker. 

What’s more, removing the head will help you while cleaning the tool. So, I’ll discuss some easy steps to help you take the head off the machine without damaging any of its parts. 

Step 1: Deactivate Your Machine 

To begin with, you have to deactivate the machine first and turn it off before removing the head from your weedwacker. Unplug the machine and remove it from the power source, so it doesn’t get switched on accidentally. Also, it is best to ensure that the engine has cooled off to avoid getting any skin burns. 

Step 2: Locate The Push Tabs 

Once you’ve turned the machine off and removed it from the power source, turn it upside down to locate the push tabs. As the head is facing upwards, you’ll find two push tabs on either side of the headcover. 

Step 3: Remove The Head 

After you’ve located the push tabs, press them at the same time, and the head will be released from the rest of the machine. Now, pull the head straight off the weedwacker. 

You may find a spring to loosen the head depending on the model of your machine but store the spring safely while you work on the machine. Once you’re done cleaning or replacing the cutting line, you can use this spring to put the head back in place.
