This feature is excellent as you can easily check when your plants are low on water or are being overwatered without removing the inner pot.

Next, I want to talk about its double-layer design. This particular feature ensures that excess water gets stored at the bottom of the pot instead of the soil. It enables your African Violets to soak up water as and when required, instead of sitting in a pool of water throughout - which is detrimental to their health.

What's There To Like About It?

Although this planter pot is made of plastic, I noticed that it is incredibly sturdy and does not crack easily. My dogs accidentally toppled one of the planters over; however, it was able to withstand the blow and did not crack or break.

This design aspect makes it convenient to water your plants whenever required, rather than overwatering and harming them. Furthermore, the manufacturer includes a pair of garden gloves for those with a green thumb!

Another interesting aspect of this product is the inclusion of a water injection hole. This enables you to add water into the inner container without removing it from the outer pot. It is not only time-saving but also highly convenient for busy individuals.

Buyers Guide

After going through my list of recommended products, have you found the perfect African Violet pot for your requirements? If yes, congratulations! I'm glad my guide helped you in finding the right product.

However, if you are yet to decide on the right product for your needs, don't worry. I still have a couple of sections left to help you. Next up, I will tell you about some of the most important factors to consider when looking for African Violet pots.

Take a look!

1. Pot Size

One of the primary considerations before purchasing the best African Violet pots is their size. While you can easily opt for small-sized pots (3 to 4 inches) for seedlings or smaller African Violets, it is vital to repot them into medium and large-sized pots as they grow bigger.

Ensure that your plants have adequate breathing space and enough room for the roots to grow. Furthermore, the roots or stem of your plants should never be completely soaked in water.

2. Pot Material

The next factor you should consider is the material of the pot. You will find several varieties on the market - from terracotta to plastic, clay, and ceramic.

Each pot material has its set of advantages and disadvantages. It is best to research and weigh the pros and cons before opting for the most suitable one. However, I can give you a couple of basic pointers to help.

a) Plastic Pots

Plastic pots typically feature a self-watering design which is excellent for African Violets. Although they may not be the most aesthetic ones on the market, you can always choose to repaint them with a personal touch. However, they are available in various sizes, which is excellent for small to adult-sized plants.

b) Clay Pots

Clay pots are highly porous and facilitate the drainage of water. However, they are not available in different colors, which might be a drawback for some.

c) Ceramic Pots

Ceramic pots are one of the best options for those who want to add an aesthetic touch to their home. Moreover, these pots come in two layers, making it super easy to water your plants regularly without hassle.

3. Set Of Pots

Since I purchased half a dozen African Violet seedlings, it was evident that I was looking for a brand that offered a set of planters instead of a single piece. I found several brands offering sets of three, five, or six. In addition to that, I also found brands offering single pots.

So, according to your requirements, I suggest looking for brands that offer sets or single pieces. Furthermore, I always make it a point to compare various brands, their features, and prices. This way, I am aware of all my options and can make an informed decision.

4. Self Watering Pot VS. Traditional Pot

Finally, you will find several types of African Violet pots on the market. While some of them feature a slitted design, others have a transparent bottom or mid-section. You may also come across pots that have a special water injection hole. This hole allows you to water your plants from the bottom of the pot without displacing the inner pot.

Now, the type of pot design you wish to purchase depends entirely on personal preference. I love the transparent bottom pots as it allows me to efficiently keep a check on the water level in the pot without frequently removing the inner pot. However, others may prefer a ceramic pot that is colorful but does not feature a transparent base or a water injection hole.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's time for me to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about African Violet pots.

1. How Long Do African Violets Live?

African Violets are known to live for as long as 50 years - with adequate care, maintenance, and attention.

2. Do I Need To Repot My African Violets?

Once your African Violets begin to grow out of their current pot, it's time to repot them into larger ones. As such, African Violets can grow pretty large, so ensure that you provide adequate space for them to grow and breathe.

Furthermore, I recommend looking up guides on repotting African Violets so that you can repot them correctly.

3. How Do I Choose The Correct Pot Size For My African Violets?

Choosing the appropriate pot size for your African Violets is imperative. Ensure that the pot is neither too big nor too small for them. Moreover, you need to consider repotting your African Violets at least twice a year, as they can grow pretty large.

As such, the pot size should be a minimum of 3 to 4 inches. Furthermore, it is best to opt for self-watering pots as they enable the plant to self-regulate the amount of water it requires while preventing over or under-watering.

4. What Kind Of Water Should I Give My African Violets?

It is best to avoid cold water and opt for lukewarm water instead. Moreover, avoid overwatering the plants as it can cause various health issues or even cause them to die. Ensure that you maintain a proper watering schedule so they are not underwatered.

My Final Recommendation

With that, it’s a wrap! I have finally reached the end of my comprehensive guide, and I hope it helps you find the perfect African Violet pot for your needs.

Before signing off, I want to take a moment to talk about some of my favorite products from my list. Overall, I love the Mkono Plastic Self Watering Planters ABCD because of its minimalistic appeal. Furthermore, it is ideal for African Violet seedlings.

However, those looking for a slightly larger pot for their plants can consider the Vanavazon A707 Self Watering Planter Pot. The manufacturer offers a set of three 6-inch pots, which is quite the bargain.

That’s all I have for you today. Don’t forget to leave a comment below and let me know if you agree with my verdict. Until then, I hope your African Violets grow to be healthy and beautiful like mine!
