While researching, I came across the brand Bosch as quite a trusted name for tools like these. Once I noticed how highly rated it was by other users, I had to give it a go.

The Galax Pro was an accidental find when I was looking for hammer drills at a lower price range. Despite its affordability, this hammer drill has a ton to offer and was quite helpful on many occasions.

As soon as I saw it, I was surprised by how lightweight the drill is. It barely weighs 5 pounds making it very easy to hold and use for more extended periods. It has a 4.5 amp motor which can provide about 3000 blows per minute and is ideal for most hard surfaces.
Additionally, this drill has a multifunctional purpose. Depending on your requirement, it can be used for drilling, hammer drilling, and even screwing. You can use this hammer drill on steel, wood, and concrete, but reinforced concrete should ideally be avoided. Also, it has a 1/2 inch impact drill chuck and a built-in depth gauge.
Overall, the design is ergonomic. The handle is sized just right and allows for a comfortable grip. Additionally, the auxiliary handle that comes with the drill has an anti-slip pad for better control.

As already established, a corded hammer drill is quite an essential and powerful tool to have in the house. This is mainly because it can do twice the amount of work than a regular non-electrical tool in less time and even lesser effort. However, despite the need for one, it is not a standard tool to have.
I honestly believe this is due to the lack of knowledge about this tool, and I want to change that. This is why I have put together some information regarding hammer drills. Hopefully, everything I mention is informative enough to help you buy the best corded hammer drill.
1. Cord vs. Cordless
Now, I know this is a review for the corded hammer drills, but it would be unfair to hide the other side of the spectrum. Hammer drills are mainly available in cord and cordless options. The cordless ones are usually battery-operated (mostly rechargeable). Corded hammer drills, on the other hand, are heavy-duty and run on electricity.
If you are the kind of person who likes to frequently get involved in DIY projects or need a hammer drill for work, I would suggest getting a corded hammer drill. These are much more powerful than battery-operated ones and can be used continuously without worrying about changing or recharging batteries.
However, this does not mean cordless ones have nothing to offer. All cordless hammer drills are incredibly lightweight and are very easy to handle. They may run out of power after a while but working with them is far easier, especially if you are new to the DIY world.
2. Multi-Speed
One of the most important features any hammer drill should have is multiple speed variations. Even if you do not need it at present, having a machine that has the feature can open up doors to various projects. If you are looking for a hammer drill, make sure it has a speed setting or a trigger that makes it easy to control the speed.
For speed setting, look out for numbers or a dial that can be turned to adjust the speed. If there is a trigger, I advise you to get used to the pressure required for different speeds before starting the project.
I tend to prefer having a trigger control over a speed dial on any power tool, be it a drill machine or spray paint gun. This is because it can get difficult to handle a dial, in case you don’t have a free hand, so the trigger makes things easier.

This is yet another important feature because without proper drilling power, the machine is pretty much useless. Motor speed will be given in RPMs or BPMs, and the higher the number, the better it is.
Motor power is also an excellent indicator for a powerful machine. The power is measured in amps and will be mentioned while buying the drill. Like the speed, more power means the device will create more force and amplify the speed of the drill. However, drills with more power are likely to be heavier and harder to handle.
4. Modes
Just because it is a hammer drill does not mean it cannot have multiple uses. Much like with any other product, versatility is important. It is always appreciated if the machine can perform numerous functions and lessen the need for more tools. If you are looking for something like this, here are possible modes to look for in a hammer drill:
a. Hammer
This is pretty self-explanatory. It is usually indicated with a hammer sign which is easy to spot. This feature is to be used when hammering on surfaces like concrete or brick.
This is much better than a regular hammer since drilling combined with the hammering can punch more precise holes at a faster speed.
b. Drill

In addition to everything mentioned, there are a few more features that are worth looking into.
One of the additional features I love is the auxiliary handle. A 360-degree side handle can help make the grip on the machine stronger and hence achieve precise drilling. Other than that, weight can be another factor. Having a lightweight machine will also make it easier to use and maneuver for more extended periods.
Also, if you do not want to spend money time and again buying add-ons to the drill, look for one that comes with extras to make the experience better. For instance, having a hard case to keep all the tools in is a definite plus.
Frequently Asked Questions
A regular hammer drill is like the baby version of a rotary hammer drill. The latter is bigger, more powerful, and ideal to drill large holes that a hammer drill won’t be able to handle. A rotary hammer drill also has a piston.
