I have raised livestock before, and I immediately realized that it must be the wild animals taking the chickens away after it is dark.

To help her save the livestock, I thought I should get nothing but the best night predator deterrent. That’s how I ended up testing the top products that are out there. Hi! I am Stacy Smith. And I have curated a guide on the best night predator deterrents that one can purchase.

Top 5 Night Predator Deterrent Reviews

1. Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time

Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time

The Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time is a compact solar-powered light pack that will keep your home and livestock guarded against wild animals at night. Because of the flashing light they emanate, you can rest assured that even pests will stay away.

Product Highlights

When reviewing this product, the first thing to catch my attention was its durability. For an outdoor item, this is an essential feature, and Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time aces it. It is completely waterproof and can be used in rain or snow. So, you can use it all year round without fearing that it may get damaged.

Additionally, you do not have to worry about it running out of charge every now and then. Even if it is cloudy for days, there’s nothing to worry about. Once charged, the battery can last up to seven days. And the best part is that the device is completely automatic and offers maintenance-free operation.

Moreover, on purchasing this item, you will receive two separate units that help to provide wider coverage. This is particularly helpful when you are planning to cover uneven areas and building corners. With this deterrent, you can stop wild animals from 500 yards away.

What’s There To Like About It?

After installing the device, I noticed that it comes with a unique feature. When switched on at night, the units flash a blinking red light, which is very similar to the ones present in CCTV cameras. This is equally effective in deterring human intruders from entering my property.

Also, installing this device is super simple. Just follow the instructions, and place it in an area that receives sunlight, and you will be good to go.

What’s There Not To Like About It?

Because there are just 2 lights in the pack, this might not be a great fit for farms that are relatively big. The coverage, in that case, might seem a bit lukewarm. However, the performance of this set is exceptional, and installing more than one pack can solve the problem.

Pros and Cons of Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time

Pros

  • Suitable for use in all weather conditions
  • Durable construction
  • Saves charge for up to seven days
  • Provides great coverage for medium-sized farms

Cons

  • Pack contains only 2 lights

  • NIGHT PEST CONTROL - Night animals are costly. Protect your home, garden, chickens and other livestock from coyotes, foxes, cougars and other animals that prowl at night such as domestic cats, deer, raccoons, skunks, etc.
  • WEATHER RESISTANT - Our predator light deterrent features a new completely waterproof design suitable for all weather conditions. Four season use.
  • POWER SMART - Solar-RePredator Eye Animal Deterrent battery allows fully automatic and maintenance-free operation. New and improved battery lasts for seven days with the charge from one sunny day.

2. Nite Guard NG-004 Solar Predator Control Light

Nite Guard NG-004 Solar Predator Control Light

To scare the wild animals away and to give them the feeling that they are being watched, give the Nite Guard NG-004 Solar Predator Control Light a try. Thousands of customers attest that this item has successfully managed to keep their property safe at night.

Product Highlights

Most homeowners do not have prior experience in installing night predator deterrents. If you are one of them, you will have no trouble while setting up this device. You can consider a perimeter or cluster mount when installing the lights. In case you are trying to scare deers away, consider installing all 4 lights on a single pole facing four different directions.

It also comes with an automatic feature that will help you save energy. The lights included in the pack are all solar-powered and get automatically switched on when it gets dark. And once the sun rises, the lights get switched off. That way, the battery power lasts for a long time.

Moreover, the device is completely waterproof and does not get damaged by other weather-based problems. The material is pretty sturdy, and with a little maintenance, it can easily last for 3-4 years.

What’s There To Like About It?

I have noticed that the flash switches the moment it is dark outside and stays on throughout the night. And because of the flashing light, predators are stopped at long distances, around 500 yards or more.

Honestly, its battery capacity is not as great as the Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time, but it still manages to do pretty well. The lights need to be solar charged every few days, and they will remain switched on overnight.

What’s There Not To Like About It?

The only issue that I noticed with this item is that it does not come with a motion detector. And because of that, the light stays on throughout the night and consumes a lot of solar energy. If the manufacturer had included a motion detector, it could’ve worked as a great power-saving feature.

Pros and Cons of Nite Guard NG-004 Solar Predator Control Light

Pros

  • 4 lights provide great coverage
  • Can withstand water-based damages
  • Comes with automatic features
  • Long-lasting product

Cons

  • Does not include a motion detector
Nite Guard Solar Predator Control Light, (Pack of 4)
  • A constant flash of light to all animals that hunt or feed at night that they have been "discovered" or are being watched
  • No switches; its all automatic just remove the black protective tape that covers the solar panel
  • Solar powered and light sensitive turning on at dusk and turning off at full daylight

3. MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller

MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller

To ensure that your property and livestock do not get damaged by wild animals, it’s best to try the MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller. This pack of lights is solar-powered and does an impressive job of keeping coyotes, raccoons, and foxes away from your property in a humane way.

Product Highlights

A bit of research will tell you that homeothermic animals are afraid of fire and flee when they see anything that resembles fire.

And the MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller put this theory to use. At night, this item flashes red light, which helps drive nocturnal animals away. Like the first product on this list, this one, too, has a flickering red light. This resembles a CCTV camera and manages to keep human intruders at bay.

Moreover, there is no need to purchase separate batteries for this pack of lights, as they are included in the package. The lights have solar panels installed on the top portion that helps to convert sunlight into power. Also, the batteries are rechargeable, so there is no need for replacements.

When it comes to durability, this product fares well! It comes with an IP44 waterproof rating and can handle everything from drizzle to heavy rain.

What’s There To Like About It?

I loved how this predator repellent comes with a hanging hole. There was no elaborate installation process needed, and I just hung it on my fence.

Additionally, because the product is so sturdy, I did not have to spend a lot of time deciding where to put it. It is weather-proof, and you place it anywhere you deem fit without worrying that it might get damaged.

What’s There Not To Like About It?

Like the Nite Guard NG-004 Solar Predator Control Light, this one, too, is a pack of 4 lights. However, after installation, I noticed that this set of lights is not as bright as the former, which is why I’ve placed it just below. If you have a small yard, it won’t be a problem. But if you are trying to cover a large area, I recommend that you use two packs.

Pros and Cons of MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller

Pros

  • Keeps animal and human intruders away
  • Can handle rain, snow, and storms
  • Comes with rechargeable batteries
  • Sturdy hanging hole

Cons

  • Coverage can be better
MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller, Wild Animal Predator Deterrent with Red LED Lights, Waterproof Skunk, Deer, Coyote, Fox, Raccoon Animal Repellent for Garden Yard Farm Chicken Coop (4 Pack)
  • 🏡 Advanced & Unique Design: It is proved that homoiothermal animals are afraid of fire in science. When detecting fire or something like fire, they may flee away. MAGIC CAT solar-powered animal repellent is designed to drive animals by flashing red light based on this theory. The red colored LED lights flicker rapidly, which is similar to flickering flames and security cameras to warn intruders stay away from the protected areas. The red lights will flash all night to keep your property safe.
  • 🏡 Energy-saving & Eco-friendly: MAGIC CAT solar animal repellent is equipped with an rechargeable battery that can be fully charged by sunlight under strong sunlight. The lights will turn on at dusk to deter predators and turn off automatically for energy-saving after dawn by adopting the unique light sensor. Therefore, this device only works at night or rainy days. It can be used for about 7 days after fully charged, which is of high efficiency and low power consumption.
  • 🏡 Humane & Effective Way: This nocturnal wild animal deterrent does a great job in deterring predators. The twin red LED lights look like the eyes of larger predator, which will cause panic among wild animals and makes them flee away the area. It's a humane way to deter skunk, deer, fox, wolf, coyote, rabbit, owl, raccoon, bird and most of other wild animals so as to protect your garden, yard, chicken coops, livestock, campsites , nurseries, manors, orchards and much more other properties.

4. Redeo Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller Light

Redeo Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller Light

The Redeo Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller Light is a favorite of home and ranch owners for all the right reasons. This predator deterrent works in a humane fashion and protects you and your livestock from wild animals at night.

Product Highlights

What sets this item apart from most other predator deterrents is the dual strobe lights that it features. This unique design is highly successful in driving wild nocturnal animals away at night as it resembles the eyes of a large predator. You can rest assured that raccoons, owls, and coyotes won’t enter your farm and destroy the livestock.

Not to mention that the lights in this pack are all battery-powered and come with light sensors. They get charged during the day using the solar panels installed in them. Once it gets dark, you can use the ON/OFF button to switch it on. The light sensors function in the morning, and the lights get switched off automatically as soon as the sun is out.

Additionally, you don’t have to worry about what will happen to your livestock during the monsoon. These lights come with an IP44 waterproof rating and will keep your livestock safe throughout the year.

What’s There To Like About It?

I was really impressed with how well the battery functions. It goes without saying that when you receive the lights, the batteries are not charged. So, after receiving the package, I put the lights under the sun for a few hours and to my surprise, they were all fully charged. If you are looking for predator-repellent lights that charge fast, this is the one!

Moreover, I was very happy with the customer support that this brand offered. I had some queries regarding installation, and they were super quick in resolving them.

What’s There Not To Like About It?

Unlike the MAGIC CAT Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller, this one does not come with a hanging hole that is sturdy. To ensure that it does not fall from a height, make sure you either drill it to the poles or install it close to the ground. If it falls, there’s always a chance it might break.

Pros and Cons of Redeo Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller Light

Pros

  • Comes with dual strobe lights
  • Requires minimal maintenance
  • Can handle bad weather conditions
  • Batteries charge fast

Cons

  • Hanging hole is not sturdy
Redeo Solar Nocturnal Animal Repeller Predator Control Light Coyote Repellent Devices Waterproof Fox Raccoon Skunk Deer Deterrent with Red LED Lights for Garden Farm Chicken Coop
  • 【Upgraded & Unique Design】: Redeo solar-powered animal repellent adopts a unique design and is equipped with dual red LED lights. The dual strobe lights imitate the fire and eyes of large predators to warn intruders to stay away from the protected areas by flashing red lights. It will flash all night to protect your property.
  • 【Humane Way】: This deterrent device deters predators in a humane way. When it is working, the two red LED lights will flash rapidly, like red flames and the eyes of the frightening animals. It will scare away coyote, deer, wolf, fox, racoon, skunk, owl and other nocturnal wild animals from your chicken coop, garden, farm, orchard, livestock and other areas.
  • 【Easy to Use】: This predator deterrent light is easy to install and totally maintenance-free. Press the power button to turn "ON" the device, and mount the device 1 to 8 feet above the ground on a post, fence, or exterior wall according to the eye height of the predator you want to deter. For best results, use multiple devices to cover a 360-degree area.

5. Triumpeek Animal Repeller

Triumpeek Animal Repeller

No way was I going to wrap up this list without having mentioned the Triumpeek Animal Repeller. This pack of 4 lights has an exceptional flashing frequency and is a great bet to ensure no wild animals or pests cross the perimeter of your lawn or farm at night.

Product Highlights

The flashing frequency of these lights is of 4Hz, which is highly efficient in deterring wild animals. On every light, you will find a pair of blinking red lights that simulate fire or a large predator's eyes. And seeing this, raccoons, coyotes, and other animals get scared and stay away from your farm.

Also, it is important to note that the product offers a great deal of versatility. It comes in packs of 2 and 4, so you can purchase one according to the area that you are planning to cover. The lights are no doubt very bright! However, if you have a large vegetable field, I suggest you go for a pack of 4 lights, not 2.

Not to mention, the lights are all battery-powered, and you do not have to use up electricity to charge the batteries. The lights will store solar energy during the day and will stay on throughout the night.

What’s There To Like About It?

For me, the best thing about the product is its versatility! You can mount the lights low on a pole to scare away small animals like raccoons. Or you can install them at a 4-feet height if you are trying to deter large animals like deer. And to drive away predator birds like owls and hawks, place the lights as high as 8 feet.

Not to mention, installation is super easy, and everything that you need for the purpose can be found in the package.

What’s There Not To Like About It?

The only issue you might face when using this product is with the batteries. Unlike the Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time, the batteries in this pack cannot save charge for seven days. So, if it stays cloudy for a few consecutive days, the lights might go out of charge. I suggest that you keep a backup in case that happens.

Pros and Cons of Triumpeek Animal Repeller

Pros

  • Easy installation
  • Versatile functioning
  • Humane and safe deterrent
  • Comes with rechargeable batteries

Cons

  • Cannot store charge for long
Triumpeek Animal Repeller, Solar Powered Predator Eye Nighttime Animal Deterrent Devices with Red LED Lights, Night Guard Animal Repellent Scares Coyote Skunk Raccoon Deer Away from Yard Chicken Coop
  • EPA Est. No. 94733-CHN-1 / SCARES AWAY MOST INVADERS: Stimulating red flame or the eyes of fearsome predators, Triumpeek solar animal repellent is equipped with strong red flashing lights to fool and scare most invaders away from your garden, yard, farm, vegetable fields, and chicken coop.
  • SOLAR POWERED: Triumpeek animal deterrent will never power off as the solar panel will automatically help to get it charged when placed under the sun or other environments with strong light. Please note that the device will not work while charging or under bright light, and it works when light sensors detect changes in light.
  • SIMPLE TO USE & INSTALL: Mount the unit depending on the eye height of the predator you want to deter. Press down the power button and the unit is turned on and goes into standby mode. The unit turns on at dusk, off at dawn automatically.

Buyers Guide

Now that I have given you a detailed round-up of the top night predator deterrent, were you able to decide which one to pick? I know it is not easy to select the best night predator deterrent, especially if you are purchasing one for the first time. So, to help both first-time buyers and seasoned pros, I have curated this buyer’s guide.

And I will take you through some of the factors that you should keep in mind when making a pick. Let’s take a look!

1. Light Coverage

You might have a small yard or a big ranch. And depending on that, you will have to select a suitable night predator deterrent. If you have a large farm, it is essential that you opt for lights that have great coverage and can keep the wild animals away.

To give you an estimate, the lights should at least reach half a mile from your property to ensure that the animals do not enter at night. If the coverage is not good, the lights will fail to keep the animals away.

Also, you should select the coverage that suits your purpose. For example, if you want to showcase your garden at night, opt for a 360-degree light. Then your yard or garden will receive light from all angles. However, if you are putting predator deterrent lights right in front of your house, a 60-180 degree light angle would work perfectly.

2. Type Of Light

When searching the market for the best night predator deterrent, you will come across a range of options. And trust me, not all lights are the same. Some lights can be flashing, while others will remain constant. The number of lights will also vary from brand to brand.

On certain products, you will find a single big flashlight that stays on for the night. In contrast, other options come with 2-4 lights that keep flashing constantly or flash at random intervals after it gets dark outside. If you are trying to keep small harmless wild animals like raccoons, weasels, and bats away from the farm, you can opt for options that come with still lights.

However, when you are trying to keep dangerous animals like foxes and coyotes off your property, it is best to opt for random flashing lights. When the lights are random, these animals find it pretty difficult to predict them and will not intrude your farm.

3. Solar-Powered Lights

Night predator deterrent lights need to be kept on throughout the night. And if you have to run them on electricity, your utility bills will soar through the sky. To avoid this problem, it is best that you go for options that are solar-powered.

The solar lights are pretty fuss-free and easy to set up. You don’t need any extra wiring or tools for installation. Their functioning is simple; they charge throughout the day and stay on for the entire night. Most of the lights I tested require 5 hours of charging, and they can function for 12 hours at night.

Along with solar power, check if the lights are automated too! This will save you the trouble of switching them on and off every day.

That said, solar-powered night predator deterrents have a downside too. Unless the one you are purchasing comes with a powerful battery, it won’t be able to store power for too long. And that can be a problem during the monsoon when the sun does not come out for days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Will bright lights deter raccoons from entering my farm?

Definitely! A bit of research will tell you that raccoons are nocturnal animals, and they prefer to move around only after it gets dark. So, when you install a night predator deterrent with flashing bright lights, raccoons will surely stay away from your property.

When raccoons see a bright light, they feel like it is already daytime and will be deterred from entering your farm.

Q2. Is it important to look at the brand when purchasing a night predator deterrent?

Repeat customers generally prefer purchasing from a brand they have already used. However, it is not a problem if you want to try out a new brand when replacing the old set of night predator deterrent lights.

While some brands may not have been able to gain much reputation, their products are top-notch. I would suggest that you go through the user reviews properly before deciding which one to purchase.

Also, different brands offer different features, and you should choose one that suits your requirements the best. Only considering how highly a brand is reputed might not be the correct way to select a product.

My Final Recommendations

There’s no doubt that purchasing a predator deterrent light can be a pretty smart decision! This is especially true if you want to deter predator animals from entering your farm and destroying livestock.

Choose lights that switch on automatically at night and require the least amount of maintenance. Most of the lights have a rugged build, and the manufacturers promise that they will easily last 3-4 years.

That said, before signing off, I would like to share my favorites with you. The Aspectek Predator Eye Night Time remains my all-time favorite for its exceptional performance and battery life. Apart from that, if you are looking for an option that provides great coverage, give the Nite Guard NG-004 Solar Predator Control Light a try.

With that, I bid you farewell. Until next time, adios!
