Dripping or drizzling showerheads are exasperating, aren’t they?
Last week when we returned home from a relaxing vacation, we noticed that the showerhead of our bathroom was leaking terribly. To be honest, nothing annoys me more than a leaking showerhead.
Then and there, I figured out that the shower valves were nearing the end of their lifespan. Replacing them myself for nearly a decade, I’ve become quite a pro in such things. And so, even this time, I decided to replace it all by myself.
That’s when I headed straight to our local store to get my hands on Moen shower valves. However, they weren’t available. So, I ended up with Delta shower valves instead. After returning, my husband helped me replace shower valves, and the showerhead was good to go.
Having used both shower valves, I decided to put together a guide on Delta vs. Moen shower valves. Howdy! I’m Stacy Smith, and today I’ve prepared yet another guide just for you.
So, without any further ado, let’s get started!
Let’s just agree that a warm and relaxing bath can work wonders after a hectic day at work. But, what if you come home just to find out that your shower valve isn’t functioning properly? Pretty stressful, isn’t it?
When it comes to shower valves, nothing comes to mind except Delta and Moen valves. Both brands are plumbers and homeowners’ favorites. They offer top-notch quality products to improve our shower experience. Thus, choosing one is definitely an uphill task.
However, before we delve straight into comparing the two shower valves, let’s take a look at the two brands.
Delta
To be honest, the high-quality valves of this brand, coupled with an affordable price tag, have made them my favorite. Made of brass metal and plastic, they can withstand regular wear and tear. Moreover, they are pretty easy to install. Also, what I absolutely loved about these valves is that they are lightweight. Therefore, they are secured firmly and don’t rock back and forth.

1. Material
When it comes to plumbing fixtures, I prefer to invest in a long-lasting one. Therefore, the material they’re built of plays a crucial role in determining their longevity. Speaking of Delta and Moen shower valves, these two are made of different materials.
Moen shower valves feature solid brass material containing copper and zinc metals. These are solid and robust materials, ensuring long-lasting performance. Also, they are resistant to corrosion and regular wear and tear. That’s why Moen has been my go-to brand for over a decade.
Meanwhile, Delta shower valves are built using plastic and brass metal which means they aren’t very durable. This is one of the prime reasons for its cheap price tag. Also, they require constant checking and maintenance, thereby adding to extra expenses.
All in all, Moen shower valves are your best bet because of their longevity.
2. Functionality
Having used the two shower valves, I’d say both are great. But, Moen valves edge over Delta ones. This is because Delta valves weaken the water pressure. And that’s why I prefer Moen over Delta. With superior water pressure, Moen offers a luxurious and relaxing shower experience to my liking.
However, Delta valves feature advanced high-tech functions which keep the shower free from residue. Not only that, but Delta offers a variety of options to choose from.
And, rightly so, the two valves create different experiences. While delta valves’ wave-like flow ensures superior coverage, Moen shower valves offer a luxurious rainfall experience. Although Delta has managed to accumulate positive reviews, Moen is the homeowner’s favorite.
3. Installation
When it comes to DIY plumbing repairs, I prefer only those brands that offer easy installation. While both brands boast about easy installation, Delta defeats Moen in this respect. Being compact and lightweight, Moen shower valves are pretty user-friendly. Even if you’re not a plumbing expert, you can install these shower valves pretty much easily.
Meanwhile, installation isn’t a smooth ride with Moen shower valves. If installed incorrectly, the valves wobble. Initially, I, too, faced the same issue. However, with time, I became a pro at it. For those who aren’t confident in your plumbing skills, I suggest you let the professionals do the task. Thus, Delta shower valves are perfect for your DIY plumbing repairs.
4. Durability
If you haven’t guessed it already, then let me tell you that Moen shower valves win over Delta in terms of durability. However, they do hold up for quite a long time, they do not surpass Moen shower valves.
But, I recommend Delta valves for those on a budget as they’ll last longer than others on the market.
5. Price
Certainly, Delta shower valves are the best bet in terms of affordability. With its advanced features and longevity, be assured that Delta valves offer excellent value for money.
Meanwhile, Moen shower valves are quite a blow to the budget. But, the materials they are built of are highly durable and long-lasting. Therefore, they’ll last you longer than Delta ones. So, if budget isn’t an issue, I recommend you go for Moen shower valves.
