Hansgrohe vs. Grohe

One of the things I love to do is read about brands before I get any renovation work done in the house.

This is how I have made multiple changes in my space and kept up with trends in the decor industry all in one breath. However, a few weeks ago, I was at a bit of a crossroads.

I was looking at some bathroom accessories and came across two popular brands - Hansgrohe and Grohe. Truth be told, I’ve never been more confused as I never really compared the two before. Making a decision was tough, but after much deliberation, I arrived at one.

Hi there! My name is Stacy, and if you are in a bit of a pickle with these two dangerously similar brands, I’ve got your back. I have put together some information to help you differentiate the two brands and added my advice for smoother decision-making.

Now, without further ado, let’s get right to the details.

Hansgrohe vs Grohe

Brand History

Before I get into which one is better, allow me to get into detail about the history of the two brands. Founded in 1901, Hansgrohe was started by a man called Hans Grohe in Germany. Back then, he became famous for using tin to make a shower fixture and continued to make innovative fixtures that gained more traction.

Within 30 years, the company expanded and started getting famous all over the world. It was around that time that Hans Grohe’s eldest son, Frederick, quit the company. However, he did not leave the industry. Frederick took over a factory that manufactured sanitary products and started his line of bathroom fixtures called Grohe.

Now, if you were wondering why these two brands are so similar, it’s because it is the same family. Interestingly, while Hansgrohe can be considered the father of the bathroom fixtures industry, Grohe became more popular globally.

Father vs. Son - Which One Is Better?

Considering both brands come from the same family tree, I know it can be hard to make a choice. This is why I have divided the two brands based on a few essential factors that may speed up the decision-making process.

1. Technologies

Both the brands are focused on developing new technologies that make every shower a very relaxing experience. However, the main difference between the two brands is that Hansgrohe focuses on enhancing the shower experience. On the other hand, Grohe focuses on developing technology that makes the product sustainable and ergonomic.

Some of the exciting innovations by Hansgrohe include:

A. CoolContact Technology: Keeps the fixture cool even when hot water is flowing to prevent users from getting burnt

B. AirPower: This technology makes the water droplets a bit larger, so the water feels smooth during a bath

C. RainTunes: If you want to engage all of your senses in the shower, this technology will help. With RainTunes, you can add music, light, and even fragrances to the shower

Now, coming to the competitor brand. Here are some of Grohe’s tech innovations:

A.Touchless Faucet: This feature allows you to operate the shower without touching the faucet. Just tap the base with your foot, and you’re good to go.

B. Blue Technology Filter: These filters allow thorough cleaning of the water for drinking purposes. Plus, it can add bubbles for sparkling water.

C. SpeedClean: This helps reduce lime buildup in the fixtures ensuring there is no effect on water pressure.

2. Design

When buying a home fixture, design is crucial. In some cases, it is an essential factor as it has to fit the aesthetic.

When it comes to design, Grohe is known to have some elegant ones that have won famous awards like the IF award, Good Design award, and many more. Apart from looking good, Grohe has incorporated many features in its products, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

On the other hand, Hansgrohe has designs that are simple but chic. The company has worked with renowned designers from all over the world. This is why their designs are better suited to households looking for a touch of old-school European class instead of modern features.

3. Price

While most people look for fixtures with the best features, there is always a price limit. No one actively wants to spend a lot of money on a faucet, especially if there are other, more affordable options. So, which one is more affordable? Allow me to clear that up.

The thing about both companies is that they offer premium products, which means the cost will be high. However, with time they have released a lot of products that are better suited to people with lower budgets. Some of the faucets and mixers are pretty basic in terms of designs but are durable and affordable.

4. Additional Factors

Apart from price, design, and technology, there isn’t much that people usually look for when it comes to these fixtures. However, for me, customer care and warranties on the products are pretty important, and that is why I was drawn to both Hansgrohe and Grohe. Both companies offer a lifetime warranty on the products.

The only thing I was a bit taken aback by was the unresponsive customer service team Grohe has. The members are sweet to talk to, but they take too long to process requests. This was not something I faced with Hansgrohe.

Final Verdict

This brings me to the end of my Hansgrohe vs. Grohe guide. I hope this has helped you get a better idea of the brands.

Personally, I prefer Hansgrohe as the designs are more suited to my style of bathroom décor, and it does not cost a bomb. Plus, the overall experience with the brand was quite pleasant. But, that’s just my view.

Let me know which of the two appealed to you more. I’ll see you soon with many more guides.

Until next time!
