If you have an old attic, bats can find a way to get into the walls. They might find a cavity and fly right in.

In case you can hear them flapping from inside your walls, do not panic. These are small creatures who can make their way into narrow spaces and holes. But I am here to tell you about the numerous ways in which you can let them out.

Dive in!

How To Get Bats Out Of Walls

1. Switching On The Lights

You can first try the easiest method: switching on the light. Bats do not like light, so they will try to leave the place as soon as you turn them on. Turn on the light in your attic to make the bats scatter and leave the place immediately. Then, you can try using a torch to look into wall cavities.

If you see the bat leave the place and you are sure that there are no remaining bats in the walls, seal up the cavities immediately. They do tend to come back if you do not follow this up with sealing.

2. Using Repellents

Some of the top forms of repellents are spicy sauce or powder, citrus, mothballs, and ammonia. Ammonia is very effective as it can kill off bats with its toxic smell. However, it can harm your health too if you are not careful.

Another thing to note here is that not all methods may be equally effective in driving away these creatures altogether. For example, bats tend to avoid places that have a spicy smell, meaning they may well settle in another corner of the wall that remains untouched by the repellent.

3. Cutting Through The Wall

This is a drastic step that might need to be taken if find that the wall cavities cannot be reached conveniently. To do this, you will need to follow the sounds from the other side of the wall. Once you have been able to spot the location, start drilling into the place. Cut a section of the wall and usher the bat out.

4. Net Removal

You should only take on this process if you are confident about it. You can use a fishing net to catch the bat and then release it outside. However, I will not recommend it personally because of the risks attached.

Conclusion

You may need to fix the wall, color, or apply wallpaper again after the job is done. The process may become a tad expensive, but it will be worth it.

If you are not able to handle it yourself, ask for professional help. They will use effective tools and methods to get the bats out of the walls.
