How To Measure A Vanity Top

A bathroom vanity is a must-have for women who enjoy admiring themselves in the bathroom and taking care of themselves.

So, are you, too, planning on installing a new vanity top or replacing an old one? Either way, it is vital to have the correct measurements, without which, you could end up with an incorrectly-sized vanity top.

In this guide, I will tell you all about how to measure a vanity top at home in just a few simple steps. Take a look!

How To Measure A Vanity Top

Step 1

Using a measuring tape, measure the front side of your vanity, which goes along the floor to get its width. This is going to be the base width of the vanity.

Step 2

Next, you need to measure the top width of the vanity. Using the tape again, accurately measure the top width across the countertop.

Step 3

The next thing you need to do is to take the top and base measurements of the vanity-this will give you the depth from the front to the back. In case you have drawers under the countertop, remove them first and place your tape measure right at the back of the drawer space to get the correct depth measurement.

Step 4

Finally, use the same technique to measure the height of the vanity you want to place on your bathroom wall.

What Are The Standard Sizes For A Bathroom Vanity Top?

Bathroom vanity tops come in certain standard sizes, and they can be anywhere between 24 inches and 30 inches wide. However, some of the larger vanities on the market may measure up to 60 to 72 inches wide.

As for the depth of a standard vanity, you can expect it to measure anywhere between 20 and 21 inches. Some might even come in 31 to 32 inches sizes, but if you want to place a narrow vanity, you may even find ones that measure only 18 inches deep.

That being said, you can always choose to customize your vanity top according to specific measurements. If you are planning on renovating a bathroom, opting for a custom vanity top can be a feasible option.

However, if you are thinking about replacing an old vanity in a current bathroom, you most likely need to opt for standard vanity sizes.

Final Words

As you can see, measuring a vanity top is a fairly straightforward process and should not take more than a few minutes.

That being said, it is vital to take the measurements accurately; otherwise, you may end up with a wrong size that won’t fit on your bathroom countertop. If you are unsure of the process, I’d recommend getting professional help to measure, install, or replace an old vanity in the bathroom.

Well, that’s all I have for you today. Hope to see you again in this space. Take care!
