How To Provide Additional Light To Christmas Inflatables

Ever since my son built me a gazebo, I’ve been meaning to organize a family get-together.

But given everyone’s busy schedule, I had to put the plan on hold several times; until it was time for Christmas. This is one time of the year when I’ve always enjoyed the company of loved ones, singing Christmas carols and eating holiday cake.

This year was even more special as my grand-daughter was coming for the first time to celebrate the holidays. Naturally, I had to plan something special. Just holding the event under the gazebo wouldn’t be enough, so I went to the market and bought Christmas inflatables

I spoke to my grand-daughter, telling her all about my decorations. She was excited and kept shouting that she wanted lots of lights. When I showed her one of the inflatables on camera, she wanted Santa to be even brighter.

This was at the last moment, and I didn’t know what to do. But a quick internet search revealed how to provide additional light to Christmas inflatables. I followed all the steps, and my grand-daughter was extremely happy with the decorations.

Hi! I’m Stacy Smith, and today I’ll tell you how to do the same.

How To Provide Additional Light To Christmas Inflatables

The challenge for me was adding more lights to the Christmas inflatables while keeping everyone safe. I often hear of short-circuits and fire hazards during the holiday season, so I couldn’t afford to be careless.

Read the following points as I explain what to do.

1. Floodlights

Christmas inflatables usually come with built-in C7 lights, illuminating Santa or Rudolph from inside. While you can replace damaged lights, it won’t be possible to add extra lights to the inner socket. So, the only option is to add lights from the outside.

Using floodlights serves as an efficient solution, and you can choose from several sizes and colors. Shine the light on the inflatable along with the other areas of your property, creating the perfect ambiance. This also serves as a good backup option because if the C7 lights die down, the inflatable will still be colorful.

2. LED Scarves And Hats

To decorate my Christmas inflatables, I needed to put on my thinking cap, which gave me an idea. What if inflatable Santa and his elves wore scarves and hats? That’s when I purchased LED scarves and hats to decorate my inflatable figures.

Since people usually wear them, these products have sufficient battery backup and don’t produce much heat. You can turn on the lights, wrapping the scarf around Santa’s neck while the elves adorn hats. As my inflatables were bigger, this decoration proved useful.

3. LED Glasses

I’ve covered scarves and hats, but no party is complete without funky glasses. If you want to give your inflatables a modern touch, LED glasses are the way to go. It’s also perfect for kids who enjoy the flashing lights and fashionable attire of their favorite characters.

4. Net Lights

I love wearing my jacket and sweaters during Christmas, which gave me an innovative idea. If people can wear jackets, why not Santa? But buying a jacket for an inflatable figure is not possible, so I decided to use net lights.

These lights are equally spaced and are part of a tangle-free grid that can wrap around trees, shrubs, and even inflatables. All you need to do is turn the lights on, place the grid on the inflatables, and enjoy the changing colors, making it visually appealing.

5. Rope Lights

Rope lights are similar to their net counterparts, with the lights arranged at equal distances on a rope. The rope extends from 10 to 150 feet, and people usually use them for decorating doors and windows.

You can arrange all the inflatables in a circle or a line, passing the rope over and between them. It will be like a cute garden scene, and users can make it seem as if the characters are watching baby Jesus in the manger.

Also, you get greater variety and more patterns with rope lights as the LEDs work in series.

6. Wire-Frame Sculptures

The great thing about wire-frame sculptures is that you can bend them into any shape of your choice. If you wish to purchase ready-made products, ask the store owner to provide you with festival-themed sculptures having miniature lights.

In some cases, these sculptures are added to wooden blocks and then painted to create a vibrant appearance, but don’t buy this. All you need is the outline, not the solid structure so that you can wrap the wires around the inflatables.

Safety Measures

Having spoken about the numerous ways of lighting your inflatable figures, I must also talk about safety measures.

1. Remove Heat Sources

You can’t afford to let your guard down, ensuring that you celebrate a merry and safe Christmas. Keep all your lighting away from possible heat sources, be it air vents, barbeques, candles, or the fireplace. If the wire heats up, it could start a fire.

2. Replace Old Bulbs

I ‘d suggest replacing all old lights with modern LED bulbs as they don’t produce much heat. What’s more, the wires prevent short circuits, keeping you safe.

3. Use Different Sockets

Don’t plug more than three lights into one socket. It would help if you checked the capacity of the outlet to determine how many lights it can support.

And when using high-powered lights like floodlights, I would suggest you avoid plugging more than one light in a socket.

Final Words

I hope you’ve all the information about how to install additional light on Christmas inflatables.

Unlike me, you should plan beforehand and make sure that all the electrical outlets are working properly. You may also call a professional electrician for maintenance and discuss how you plan to decorate the house.

It’s now time for me to bid you farewell. Merry Christmas, and stay safe. Ho! Ho! Ho!
