Most Listened To Rock Radio Stations In America

Call me old-school, but I love listening to rock music on my car’s radio.

Growing up in the seventies, I tuned into my radio to listen to rock music all the time. It was not just because of how enthralling it sounded but mainly because it helped me channel my teenage angst into my studies.

Plus, with the rise of bands like Aerosmith and Eagles, I felt that they had a voice that could be a part of political and cultural dialogue. They reminded me that I was free to think for myself and make my own choices. That’s why rock music will always have a special place in my heart.

Last week when I was dropping my son off at college, I thought of introducing him to some good rock radio stations to help improve his taste in music. Howdy! I am Stacy Smith, and today I will be telling you about the most listened to rock radio stations in America

So, without further ado, let’s jump right in!

Most Listened To Rock Radio Stations In America

These are some of the most listened-to rock radio stations in the US that you must check out.

1. KLOS 95.5

KLOS is a California-based rock radio station that delivers mainstream rock music in most areas of Los Angeles. When it first started, it used to play a wide variety of music genres. However, with the rise of the progressive rock in the late 60s, the radio station adapted to the changing times and started playing only rock music.

Previously, the station was called KABC-FM, but it was later changed to KLOS to help prevent confusion with another station with a similar name. Today, it is much more than a well-known rock station; it is also an organization that supports an annual blood donation drive throughout major parts of Los Angeles.

I personally like this radio station a lot because it still plays different subgenres of rock.

2. WWWQ-HD2

If you are from Georgia and not a big fan of progressive rock, then you must give WWWQ-HD2 a shot, as it plays the best alternative rock out there.

Often referred to as 99x, it is a highly popular rock radio station among people that love listening to alternative and rock-n-roll. 99x was founded in the early 90s, and over the years, it has become a platform for independent rock bands and artists to showcase their musical abilities.

It is also famous for arranging its Live X program, where leading rock bands and artists perform their acoustic sets. Some memorable performances of the LIve X program include live acoustic sets performed by Natalie Merchant and Lenny Kravitz.

3. Gimme Radio

Gimme Radio is more of a modern-day rock radio station in the US, which can be listened to online from all over the world. It focuses mainly on the metal genre and is, therefore, a favorite for people that are into head-banging music.

Apart from metal, it plays classic hot hits and tracks from new mainstream rock artists. But one of the best parts about this exceptional rock radio station is that it features DJs. Some of the popular DJs on this platform include Dave Mustaine from Megadeth and Randy Blythe from Lamb of God.
