What Hot Tub Brands To Avoid

So, you want to buy a hot tub?

Soaking in hot tubs are indulgences we give in to once in a while. And, installing one in our backyard is a significant investment indeed! For the past few weeks, I have been getting requests from my readers to talk about the best hot tubs. I found a bunch of ones you should consider.

But, I thought about it for a while and realized that people always recommend various products to use. But who's going to tell you which ones to avoid?

So, I decided to switch it up this time and curated a list of brands you need to stay away from. Hi! I'm Stacy, and I compiled a list of hot tub brands you need to stay away from in 2021.

Without further ado, let's see what hot tub brands to avoid this year.

5 Hot Tub Brands To Avoid In 2021

1. Caldera Spas

Many of you may be familiar with this brand; however, its hot tubs are not faring well these days. The top reason for this is the constant maintenance they require. Frequent damage means spending too much time repairing and fixing it, not to mention the expenses of getting it fixed.

Some people who owned a hot tub from this brand claimed that the parts were wearing out soon, making it necessary to approach customer care. To add to the stress, the service team took weeks to resolve simple queries, let alone requests for replacement or maintenance.

2. Life Spas Hot Tub

This brand had far too many complaints and dissatisfied customers, which prompted me to include it in this list. Most of the issues seemed to be about the heater and how often it would get damaged. Needless to say, a power heater that spoils often is troublesome on its own.

On top of that, if you have a non-responsive customer care service, the experience worsens. There were many cases of users who requested replacement or maintenance from the company, but they never received a response.

3. Coleman And Bestway Inflatable Hot Tub

Next on the list is the inflatable hot tub by Coleman and Bestway. There are a number of reasons to avoid this brand. Let's start with the most basic task of a hot tub - heating. This tub takes not a few hours but a whole day to heat!

Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that tubs can take a while to heat, but reviews stated that it took much longer than average. I also came across a review that mentioned the pump stopped working within a couple of months, which is such a letdown.

4. Hot Springs Spas

The biggest disappointment is when your hot tub malfunctions and the company does nothing to help you with its issues. This problem seemed to be a repetitive one with this brand. I guess they didn't realize that building and selling the product is not enough. You also have to help out customers with defects and maintenance if you want repeat purchases, right?

I found a few reviews which stated they had to wait for 3 months before getting any response from the team. Such a service will fill new buyers with doubt if they should risk purchasing its product.

5. Jacuzzi Hot Tubs

This brand delivers a good quality product, but as I always say, selling a product is not enough. As a buyer, we need to see all aspects from service to warranty and product durability. One drawback about the hot tubs from this brand is that the warranty policy is not the best.

Despite giving a warranty, the company does not replace faulty or broken parts of the tub. Customers got a reply from the company that the broken parts do not fall under warranty, and you have to pay to replace them. This obviously left customers fuming.

How Will You Know If A Hot Tub Is Bad?

1. Bad Online Reviews

This one is a no-brainer. If the overwhelming reviews are negative, then there is sure to be a good reason behind it. Check to see if the overall rating is below 3, and then read the reviews to understand what buyers had to say about the product. I do the same thing for two or three different online shops to see if the bad reviews are consistent.

2. Too Many Damages In The First Year

If a product, any product, tends to break or get damaged often within the first year of purchasing, chances are it wasn't a good purchase. It's probably not worth your time and money if an expensive purchase like a hot tub isn't reliable so early on after the purchase. Ideally, a durable tub should last at least 10 years with little to no issues.

3. Absence Of Service Agreement

A good product should have a minimum service agreement for a few years. Some brands even have service or maintenance guarantees for a lifetime. However, if the hot tub doesn't come with such an agreement, you'll have to pay hefty amounts from your pocket in case of damage.

4. Bad Warranty

Any decent company selling high-quality products will undoubtedly provide customers with some coverage for the first couple of years. It's ok to overlook the warranty for smaller electronics, but I would recommend reading it carefully before buying a bigger investment like a hot tub.

Final Thoughts

Here I reach the end of this list. Since a few of my readers mentioned buying hot tubs, I thought it would be sensible to tell all of y’all which ones to avoid.

You can’t do much if you already have any one of these hot tubs. But, if you haven’t, I suggest you avoid them if possible.

Remember, a good and reputable brand won’t have maintenance issues to begin with. And even if there is a faulty product, they need to have an active customer care service to attend to buyer’s grievances.

So, can you think of any other brands I should have included in this list? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time, take care!
