The key to the best soil conditions is getting the right balance of all essential nutrients. Each season and crop will demand a unique nutrient requirement, and you'll have to keep that in mind when fertilizing. 

Let's say you grow cool-weather crops like cabbage or broccoli in spring. The first thing to consider is if the soil has already been fertilized in the winter. If not, you'll need to add 10-10-10 fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) before planting the seeds. 

Additionally, remember to add granular fertilizer after fluffing the sand so that it mixes with the top four or five inches of the soil. As far as liquid fertilizers are concerned, you can directly apply them to the soil without digging. 

Or, let’s take another example of summer crops like corn and tomatoes, which are considered heavy feeders. 

In this case, you will need to apply quick-release fertilizer every three or four weeks to meet the high nitrogen requirements. This is in addition to pre-fertilizing the soil before sowing the seeds. In fact, extreme heat may reduce the plant's ability to absorb nutrients from the soil. To compensate for that, add Epsom salts with water and magnesium to make nutrients available to the plants.
