String of Hearts is a pretty attractive plant because of its distinctive heart-shaped leaves.
In addition to that, their long vines can trail for many feet, and you can wrap them around or design them as you wish to. The best part is that it’s super easy to grow another plant simply by planting its cuttings.
So, now, if you’re wondering how to plant String of Hearts cuttings, look no further because I’ll be talking about that right here!
How To Plant String Of Hearts Cuttings
There are three different methods to plant the cuttings, and it’s up to you to decide what works best for you.
1. Water Method
This is my favorite method of planting the cuttings because it works like a charm and is relatively easy to follow through. To begin with, you need some water, a pair of clean scissors, and a vase. The next thing you must do is cut off some pieces of vine and put them in water, in the vase.
Now, all these cuttings need is some natural light and warmth. You’ll begin to see new roots appear within a few weeks, and you’ll soon have a flourishing vine in no time!
2. Tuber Method
You can also grow these vines using the small, round growths you’ll see on the body. For this, you must find the biggest tuber on the plant, approximately the size of a fingernail. After that, you can either press the tuber down into the soil or remove it and put it into a pot with soil.
Both ways are foolproof and will ensure that your String of Hearts grows into a new plant. However, keep in mind that the soil must always be moist. After a few weeks, you’ll start seeing the tubers rooting.
3. Soil Method
If you’re someone who likes to see their plants in pots, then this is the method for you. For starters, you have to clip the vines, just as it was done in the water method. After that, pull off some leaves from a vine you wish to plant, and put the vine in the soil.
Make sure that at least some of the tubers on the vine are buried in the soil. Thereafter, ensure that the soil with the replanted vine bits stays moist and exposed to natural light. You should see new plants sprout within a few weeks!
Final Thoughts
Now that you know how to plant a String of Hearts, it’s time to find out how to take the best care of it.Â
The String of Hearts needs a lot of sun and light to thrive, so ensure at least 3-4 hours of it a day. If that isn’t possible, you could use a grow light instead. In addition to that, if you see that the plant looks a little scraggly, you could spray some diluted fertilizer too to replenish its nutrients.Â
With this, I’ve reached the end of my guide, and I hope you found it helpful. I’ll see you again soon with another one of these!Â
