With planting, growing, and harvesting your own produce it is easy to take control over what you are eating. It can be hard for some people to get their hands dirty but with these tips, it will seem like a walk in the park!
How to Plant Araza

Araza is a very simple vegetable to plant. It thrives in well-drained soil but will also grow well in clay and sandy loam soils.
How to Plant Araza:
Step 1: Dig up the area where you wish to plant Araza. Make sure that it gets plenty of sunlight (about 6-8 hours a day) and once the seeds are sown you should keep that area well-watered.
Use a digging spade to take up any sod in the area you're going to plant your vegetables, as this will help make a better environment for growing plants in.
Step 2: Once all of the sod is removed, dig up the soil to about 8 inches deep. If you're planting multiple batches of Araza it's a good idea to space them out so that they are separated by at least 3 feet.
Step 3: Mix in fertilizer and/or compost with your soil at this time then mix it back into the soil thoroughly. This will help create nutrients for the plants to grow.
Step 4: Plant your Araza seeds at a depth of ¼ inch and 2 inches apart in rows that are spaced 3-4 feet apart from each other. It is a good idea to water the soil after you have seeded it so that it will be well saturated with water. This will help the seeds to germinate and sprout.
The Araza plants should begin coming up within 2 weeks of being planted. It can take about 3-4 months for the plant to mature enough to be harvested, depending on the weather conditions that your crops are exposed to throughout this time period.
How to Grow Araza
Step 1: After you have planted Araza, it is important to keep your plants well-watered and fertilized. Fertilizing can help provide necessary nutrients for the development of your veggies as they grow
It's also important to water your soil regularly so that it doesn't dry out while the plant develops and matures.
Step 2: When your Araza plants are about 16 inches tall you can begin to harvest them. You can keep harvesting every couple of weeks until the plant completely dries out and dies back in fall or early winter.

Once this condition has occurred you should pull up each plant with a digging spade and brush off any dirt that may be clinging to the vegetables.

With your Araza plants in hand, you should chop off the root and stem.

To prepare your Araza for eating right away or storing, you can wash them in water several times to remove any dirt that may be clinging to the vegetables. You can then store them in plastic bags or place them in a bowl and cover them with water. This will help keep them crisp and fresh right until you're ready to eat them!
