How To Take Head Off Craftsman Weed Eater

Craftsman is known for its variety of handyman tools, and its weed eaters have always been a popular choice among gardening enthusiasts.

A strong nylon spool works to cut off weeds and grass, but you need to remove the head from time to time to replace the spool when it’s old. I’m here to tell you how to take the head off a Craftsman weed eater without any difficulty.

Let’s dig in!

Steps To Remove The Head From A Craftsman Weed Eater

The nylon spool is located inside the head of the Craftsman weed eater. Thus, you need to remove the head from the machine once the nylon spool goes blunt and needs replacing.

Furthermore, you can clean the machine and keep it in order by disassembling its head once in a while. So, I’ll highlight some simple steps that’ll help you take the head off your weed eater.

Step 1: Disconnect The Weed Eater

The Craftsman weed eater is an electric weed trimmer. So, the first and foremost step is to disconnect the machine from the power source if you plan to remove the head. Unplug the machine and let it cool off for a while before working on it.

Step 2: Remove The Spool

Once the machine is unplugged, and the engine has cooled off, carefully take out the nylon spool housed inside the head. Push it in and slowly rotate the spool to remove it from the weed eater head.

Step 3: Remove The Center Nut

After you’ve removed the spool, it’s time to unscrew the head from the rest of the machine. Locate two small holes in the outer and inner parts of the head. Then, use minute head screwdrivers to remove the center nut from both holes.

Also, you’ll need an adjustable wrench to work on the center nut. Depending on the model, you have to turn the center nut clockwise or counter-clockwise to remove it.

Step 4: Pull Off The Head

Once the center nut is removed, the head will automatically loosen up. Hence, you can pull the head straight off the Craftsman weed eater without a hitch. Just be careful that you do not break any parts of the machine.

Final Words

Taking the head off a Craftsman weed eater can be a bit tricky, especially if you’re a beginner. Anyhow, after reading my article, I hope you have a better grasp of what to do and what not to do while removing the head from your weed eater.

You can easily take off the head if you follow the simple steps I’ve mentioned. But, be careful while doing so and be sure to disconnect the machine from the power source to avoid any mishaps.

With that, I’ll be signing off. Take care, and I’ll see you next time!
