The Wizz hand-held spreader from Scotts is designed to handle any job with ease and accuracy. We consider it to be the most advanced and affordable battery-operated spreader that is capable of feeding, seeding, melting, and removing weed all-year-round. Read on to know what makes it our trusted choice.
What Did We Like About It?
We used this spreader extensively for nearly six months to get an unbiased understanding of its pros and cons. So, let’s take a look at the most impressive features that we observed.
For us, Scotts Wizz is one of the most versatile battery-operated, hand-held spreaders out there, which is available at a budget-friendly price. You can use it to apply grass seeds, weed control products, and fertilizers on your lawn, all-year-round.
We tried using it during the winter to spread ice-melting agents, and it didn’t fail to impress. Thanks to its exclusive Edgeguard Technology, the unit prevented the lawn products from spreading to unwanted areas. And that’s not all! It also managed to maintain its accuracy in all seasons with its 23 settings.
2. Easy to Use
We found this hand-held spreader easy to use. It allowed us to get the job done within little to no time.
First-timers will also be able to use the Scotts Wizz conveniently, provided they go through the instructions mentioned on the label of the unit. Simply fill the hopper with the desired product, and then turn the orange dial to the correct setting. And you’re good to go!
That being said, just be sure to walk steadily at the speed of 4 feet per second. Also, don’t forget to pull the trigger for the application. We assure you that it will ensure even and quick spreading on the desired area without any hassle.
3. Lightweight Design
Weighing only about 2 pounds, the Scotts Wizz is exceptionally lightweight and easy to carry around. This is why we were able to use it for hours without feeling fatigued. In fact, it also comes with an ergonomic handle that provides a secure grip at all times.
What Could’ve Been Better?
The Scotts Wizz is undoubtedly an incredible hand-held spreader! However, we couldn’t help but notice a few downsides to it.
It does not come with an impressive battery life. We had to take breaks in between the spreading process to charge it, which in turn, compromised our overall experience.
Furthermore, we don’t recommend using this for spreading rock salt or calcium chloride since it clogs up very easily. That being said, despite its drawbacks, you can rely on the Scotts Wizz to tackle smaller jobs with ease.
