If your area receives a lot of snow, a snow blower can be an indispensable machine to clean your walkway and driveway.
But will it be cheaper to buy a snowblower in the summer, or is winter the appropriate time? I bet there’ll be numerous questions like this in your mind. So, in this guide, I’ll tell you when is the best time to buy a snowblower and much more.

When Is The Best Time?
Some people wait till spring, hoping to find some great deals. But the reality is that this strategy doesn’t work at all. I know because I have already tried it last year.
Last year in March, my husband and I toured local retailers, hoping to find a great deal. But all we were left with was quality junk. The reason is that these retailers don’t have a big inventory and therefore stock only a few units.
Most quality snow blowers get sold out in early January or even sooner if there’s expected heavy snowfall. You might find a snowblower worth buying in February, but you can’t expect it to be a quality piece, which is why I didn’t find anything during the end of the season.
The major manufacturers only manufacture and distribute a limited number of snowblowers at a time. Once they get sold out, new models are not manufactured until next season, as they start working on land mowers.
So, what’s the ideal time to buy one? I’ll say May or June when manufacturers introduce new models on the market. In this manner, you can make a purchase ahead of time and also avail discounts, rather than settling for leftover pieces.
What Other Options Do I Have?
1. Oddball Options
It is even possible to save a chunk on your investment during Cyber Monday, Black Friday, and hot winters. If there’s an unusually warm winter, snow blowers are likely to be sold less and retailers may offer hefty discounts on them.
Apart from that, Cyber Monday and Black Friday come once a year, where retailers offer discounts on less popular brands and models. And you may well find an underrated unit!
2. A Few Weeks Without Snow
There may be a few snow-less weeks in January or the other winter months, which may force retailers to offer discounts on snowblowers. In hindsight, they may anticipate the spring coming in earlier, which brings down the market value of these machines.
Hence, they are under immense pressure to clear out their stocks before the next season. But of course, not all retailers may be obligated to take the risk of lowering the prices. This method is risky and is best suited for people looking to replace an existing unit.
Should I Purchase A Snowblower Online Or Offline?
Well, there’s no universal answer to the question. You might get a better deal at an online store than an offline store and vice versa.
One thing that needs to be kept in mind is that online ordering is a way to evade the limited inventories of offline stores. In simple words, online stores have comparatively large inventories.
E-commerce platforms like Amazon, eBay, and e-commerce sites offer multiple deals on their products over the year, so I’d suggest keeping an eye on them. And you can save a lot by purchasing refurbished or used machines that are as good as new.
However, it can be a risk to purchase snow blowers from unknown sellers, as they often don’t come with guarantees. So, I’d strongly recommend researching the seller and going through customer testimonials before making a purchasing decision. And only opt for machines that come with some form of guarantee.
In this regard, Amazon has a better reputation, where you can find reputable manufacturers like Toro, Ariens, and others, so there’re lower risks of purchasing from third-party manufacturers.
Final Words
With that, it’s time for me to wrap up.
If you are late purchasing a snowblower like I was, don’t just settle for just any leftover machine. Use a shovel or even leaf blower to get rid of the snow and wait for sometime to choose from the new and better that will eventually arrive on the market.
And I will see you another time. Till then, goodbye and take care!
