Snowblowers are an indispensable tool for clearing snow and keeping your driveway clean.
And after hearing a lot of praise about the single-stage Ariens snowblower, I finally got one. But I didn’t know how to start it when my neighbor came to the rescue, and I noted the steps. So, if you want to know “how to start Ariens snowblower?” then continue reading!
Step 1: Check The Engine Oil
Park your Ariens snowblower on a leveled and flat surface, and check the engine oil by pulling and reinserting the dipstick into the engine. Remove and survey it carefully to examine the low and high markings. If the oil level is between them, you’re good to go, and if it’s lower than that, add some oil and recheck the level using the dipstick.
Step 2: Check Fuel Level
Open the fuel cap located on top of the engine and inspect the fuel level. Some Ariens snowblowers have a fuel indicator for the purpose. If it’s lower than the recommended level, add the required amount of gasoline.
Step 3: Turn “On” The Fuel Valve
The fuel valves are generally labeled on these snow blowers, so locating them won’t be very difficult. Turn it to the full “on” position.
Step 4: Turn The Chute In A Safe Direction
Ariens snowblowers feature a patented quick-turn chute control in the dash panel that allows users to turn it in any direction seamlessly. With a short pull and right or left lever movement, turn the chute in a safe direction so that the snow falls somewhere safe.
Step 5: Turn On The Engine And Open Up The Choke
Locate the engine switch on your snowblower and turn it on. Once the indicator turns on, look for a sliding knob labeled “choke” and pull it out. Some Ariens snowblowers feature a dial or a switch, instead which needs to be kept in the choked or on position.
Step 6: Pull The Throttle And Start The Engine
Pull the throttle to the full speed position and then pull the cord briskly to start the machine. Ariens snowblowers use an Engine Fuel Efficiency (EFI) technology that combines complex computer-based controls with a high-pressure fuel delivery system to offer optimum fuel efficiency and power. It also enables users to start the engine quickly and effortlessly.
Step 7: Shut Off The Choke
Once the machine starts, run it for a few minutes keeping the choke open. The colder the temperature, the more time the machine will take to warm up. When you feel the engine isn’t running smoothly, turn the choke halfway, and close it fully after running the engine for a minute.
The machine starts running rough if you turn the choke off too quickly. In that scenario, turn it back to the halfway position and wait for a couple of more minutes.
Step 8: Start Clearing The Snow
Pull the clutch handle once the machine is warmed up enough. Put the snowblower in the forward gear and engage the auger. The controls for these are almost similar in all Ariens snowblowers, but the execution might be a bit different. So, you can check the manufacturer’s instructions. Squeeze in the traction handle slowly and start blowing the snow.
That’s how you start an Ariens snowblower.
However, you should take care of your safety as well. So, wear sturdy footwear with good traction, and avoid wearing loose clothing. It reduces the risk of slips and falls and the tangling of clothes in the moving parts. Besides, start the machine in a well-ventilated space, as it produces harmful carbon monoxide gas that’s detrimental to your health.
With that, I will now wrap up. Goodbye and take care!
