Growing up I always knew my mom was a little different. She had this really big backyard garden that she loved to take care of. Yarrow is a flowering perennial herbaceous plant that can grow up to 2 feet tall. The rhizomatous root system has made it very prevalent throughout the world. It is also commonly known as “woundwort” because of its healing effects on wounds. The leaves are finely dissected and have a fuzzy quality to them, this is due to glands that are found in the leaf axils which produce a sticky resin that covers the surface of the leaves. These flowers have been used for medicinal purposes in many cultures but have been primarily used in Ayurveda, an Indian medical system that uses natural remedies.
